I have heavily debated posting this review, as I do not want to say anything about anyone’s business that is disparaging. However, I feel like I have a responsibility to share my experience and to inform others who may visit this establishment… especially victims of SA/PTSD.
I found this business through a $59 Groupon online, and called to check availability. They advised me not to buy the Groupon because they would match the price. I agreed, and scheduled an appointment for 12:30. When I got there, no one was at the front desk, and it took a minute for someone to come running up. When I said I had an appointment at 12:30, the woman up front was perplexed and asked the other woman working that day. However, they ushered me to a room anyway. I used the bathroom and went into the room to undress and cover myself with a sheet. I then laid there for 20-30 minutes waiting for my masseuse to enter the room, even though they confirmed my 12:30 appointment. Once the massage started, there were no problems. However, maybe 5 minutes into the massage, a client walked in, so my masseuse said nothing and left the room abruptly. This was the first of about 5-7 times she left the room while I was on the table, and she left the door partially open, leaving me exposed. At one point, she also took a call. It’s important to note that this woman did not have any conversation with me prior to establish comfort and boundaries. When she returned to the room, with no warning, she pulled my underwear down, revealing about 75% of my buttocks. I was mortified, however, I’m so non confrontational that I said nothing because I didn’t want to upset her, and additionally, she spoke English poorly, so I wasn’t even sure she would understand what I was saying in the first place. The only thing she kept saying to me was “Is the process fitting you?” which made no sense to me. She focused on all of my exposed areas, including my buttocks and thighs. She repeatedly moved and lifted my underwear to get around them, and on two separate occasions, she was so far up my inner thighs that she grazed my labia. Again, I was mortified. Near the end of the massage, she had me flip over on the table, but when she came back in, she crawled up on the table (with me face up) and straddled me in order to apply pressure to my legs, which could easily have been done without climbing on top of me. At this point, she told me she needed me to leave her a 5 star review and that they would compensate me for that review by extending the time of my next massage. So, in essence, they’re buying good reviews. Finally, when the massage was over and it was time to leave, I had a hard time getting dressed because there was so much body scrub on my side, it was like dressing over sand. (I had to shower when I got home to remove all the oil and scrub). When I went to the front desk to pay, she confirmed that she was honoring the Groupon price, which she said was $68 (roughly $10 more than I would have paid to Groupon), and she advised me at this point that there would also be a $3.99 service fee for using a credit card. Had this been disclosed on the phone when I booked the appointment, I would have brought cash to the appointment. When the transaction was processing, she asked how much of a tip I wanted to leave. I said $10 (feeling like that was generous given my experience). She then said, “Oh. Usually the minimum is 20% but that’s ok.” I was livid. The service, attention, and respect I received was abysmal, and I was absolutely floored at that comment. I know that everyone has bad days, and maybe that’s all this was. Either way, I will not be going back to them or sending business their way. They say you get what you pay for, and I definitely feel like that rings true in this case. I’m not saying not to give them a chance… maybe I’m an anomaly. But, buyer beware. For what it’s worth, the place was clean, and the two women working there were friendly.
