I and my wife approaching the check out lines only 2 open. A Spanish old woman standing with her cart between both line. She did not get into any line. She tried to wait till either line finish earlier then she get into that line. We came after but we had chosen the line to check out and i know that line can be check out faster. Then we line up and that woman was beside us. Then she said she is next. I asked why you didnt get in line. She just said she was next. Then the cashier, Kim korean girl, said that woman first. Is that mean the woman come first then can choose which line she want to check out and I have to wait for her while she undecided? That woman heard that cashier said she first then she pull our cart out then get infront of us. I tried to reason with both of them then Kim, the cashier, told us to shut up. Kim said she can kick us out of the store. She even told us go to WalMart. She mean her store is better then Walmart? How come a employee tell customer to shut up? And kick us out of the store when we try to reasonable with them. That call customer service? Or jungle? That old woman tried to be smart to wait which one finished first but didnt get in the line. How come i could not get in the line? That old woman was stupid and impolite when did that. She want to reserved both line for her? Is it possible? And that stupid cashier Kim thought that she was right to solved the situation like that? Tell customer shut up. And kick customer out because she with the stupid woman tried to act smart. Just answer me that you standing in the middle of 2 cashier line that mean you get in line? So which one you in line? Both? There still a lot stupid...
Read moreThis is the best grocery store in the Memphis metro area, period.
I decided to check this place out on a whim a short while ago, and now I go out of my way to make sure I shop here (I live downtown). CIFM has anything you would need for a variety of international cuisines, as well as a lot of the basics for more typically American dishes. There are things in this grocery store that I have never seen in a grocery store before - various Asian fruits and vegetables, atypical cuts of meat (including the "nasty bits" like livers, hearts, feet, etc.), imported snack foods, and all sorts of frozen goods you'll never see in a Walmart. It's also not singularly Asian, as a lot of international markets tend to be. While Asian products definitely comprise the majority of the stock (closely followed by Mexican/Hispanic), CIFM has goods representing Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent. Additionally, while many international markets tend to be small, CIFM is, I would guess, about the size of a typical Kroger, and includes an excellent section of household goods like dinnerware, cooking tools, and food storage, as well as a couple of lunch counters and a fresh seafood section.
As an American who eats a lot of Japanese/Asian-inspired food, I can rely on CIFM for just about everything I need in a grocery run, save for butter (I am a Kerrygold die-hard), toiletries, and a good old Red Baron frozen pizza. If I had to choose one grocery store to shop in for the rest of my life, it would be this one - no question.
For anyone reading this and interested in going - bring a coat! The store is hilariously cold inside for...
Read moreLet me start off by stating that I LOVE the Cordova Farmers Market. But I have a moral obligation to report this.
I purchased a bag of Fiesta Sized Fuego Takis from the Cordova Farmers Market. I did the pressure test by lightly squeezing the bag to make sure there is trapped air pressure inside. It passed! Once I got home and opened the bag, the chips had an awful taste. They were super stale and had a really bad taste. When I inspected the bag more closely, I realized the had been re-sealed with heat. There were clear signs of tampering.
I returned to the store and checked the inventory of like products. I found an additional 4 bags that had signs of tampering. They were all resealed. This location used to have a problem with open chip bags, but the problem went away in the past year. Now, I understand why. The store is possibly re-sealing any open chip bags.
I don't have to tell you the health implications this has. This is clearly food tampering. This is illegal.
The chips had an awful taste. They could have been exposed to rat urine or any number of other potentially harmful and even lethal contaminants from their storage, shipping, etc.
I want the business to immediately cease this illegal and unsafe practice of re-sealing open food products.
I want the business to make a Public Health Advisory statement informing the public that the food products purchased there may have been tampered with.
I have emailed the business regarding this issue, and hope they will resolve this issue. I will update this review if a...
