As someone who once worked at this Marcus location several years ago, I am incredibly disheartened by my experience last night. My partner and I came to see a 10:05 movie. We arrived at the theater at 9:50 and had bought our tickets ahead, so we were ready within seconds of arriving to buy concessions. This theater has three concessions lines - one in the center and one on either side. As we walked up we were told that they were closing the center register - meanwhile, the lines for the other two registers were extending into the hallways to the auditoriums. Seemed like a bad move to close a register down during the rush for the 10:00 round of movies. We got in line, and it took multiple minutes for each customer transaction to occur - upon getting closer to the register in line, we quickly determined why. The two staff members working the register were having lively conversations unrelated to work and were extremely slow working and inattentive to customers. A man two people ahead of us walked up to the counter and stood waiting for thirty seconds as the associates in front of him stood talking, not working and completely ignoring him. Mind you, this was after this man had waited at least 12 minutes in line to order. Also, the conditions of the lobby were absolutely disgusting, and would never have been tolerated in my time working here. Popcorn littered the floors, cups and salt and napkins piled up on every surface. I understand things get crazy in a rush and it's difficult to keep up, but maybe the staff who you cut after closing that center register could have at least swept through the lobby before punching out. After we finally got our popcorn and went to our seats (10 minutes after showtime), we watched the movie for about 30 minutes, and still no usher had come and closed the door to our auditorium, meaning that noise from the hallways spilled into the theater. We had to close it ourselves.
I'm assuming this establishment is under new management since my time, and I have to say, they took one of Marcus's best area locations and totally trashed it. People used to tell us they would come from cities away because we had the cleanest lobby, freshest popcorn, and best service. This is the complete opposite of that. I will be taking my business elsewhere, something I never thought I would do after being a Marcus girl. I was proud of this store, and now I'm just grossed out and sad. Hopefully you guys pull it together and get some new management and strong leadership, or you're probably headed out...
Read moreUsually see movies in West Bend but decided to go back to Marcus for Mission Impossible. I used to frequent this location a lot but it has been a few years. I feel it's gone downhill.
In terms of the facility, nothing has changed. The dreamloungers are great and the heated seats and recliners work as advertised.
I bought my tickets ahead of time. Usually you get there and print out your physical ticket and hand it to a ticket taker. They don't have this process anymore--you just show your receipt email to the front desk and they wave you forward--no more physical tickets and no more greeter! Maybe they didn't have someone scheduled that night but my gut says they just got rid of the greeter to cut costs which is disappointing.
There was only one line for the concessions at 6:45PM on a Thursday with two new movies being released (Mission Impossible and Lilo & Stitch) which felt like a miss (I guess they are understaffed). We had to wait in line for over 5 minutes before they took our order. I saw many people complaining about the wait time for food, such as pizza and chicken tenders--it looked like they had one person back there making that food. We actually wanted some of the better food but we had no interest in waiting with everyone else, so we stuck to popcorn. Their Magical Rewards system was "down" so they had to handwrite our member information onto a piece of paper to key in our rewards later--no way to redeem rewards if we had them.
We also bought a large popcorn so we could get a free refill. The best part about getting done with a movie is getting your free refill and taking it home with you--movie popcorn at home the next day is always a treat. But the concessions were CLOSED when our movie got out (around 10PM) which seemed ridiculous. They had late shows running that night, and they apparently just close concessions after the last movie starts? What if people want to buy something during the movie? So we did not get our free refill on the way out. We would have bought a smaller size popcorn and saved money if we knew we weren't going to get to be able to get more.
Just seems like staffing is an issue--keep enough staff to keep your kitchen running fast and smooth and keep your concessions open through the last movies...
Read moreSeating is awful and we dont go at night at night anymore. All most impossible to see a movie if you didn't pay online to reserve seats! The chances of seating with someone you go with is very slim, you might maybe get to sit together but it is slim chances. The theater has changed quite a bit over the last couple years. I had an experience at the ticket counter last year. The manager I think his name was Tyler wasn't helpful, sarcastic, he acted like he wasn't having a good day so he was passing it on. There were seats open in another movie that started at the same time the movie I took my son and his friend and thought I'd see it too. It wasn't at all what I thought. With the price being the same and open seating I thought I'd ask to switch. He said I'd have to buy another movie ticket for a different movie than the one I wanted to trade with that had seats open. It had seats open because they were no show reserved seats and just open seating in the front. I had asked about a quarter of the way through. There.was enough open seats. McDonald's happy meals had movie tickets on happy meal boxes at the McDonald's diagonal from the theater. The tickets that it was a free movie ticket for the theater near you. It didn't say Menomonee falls Marcus so the manager said he'd except one buy not the other. He said thar in front of 2 happy children that were ecstatic they had movie tickets on their happy meal boxes. Really? My opinion that was bad judgment. If they weren't included they should've excluded themselves. However I found out from a source rather true or not , that they were met for Marcus theater's. It's definitely went from my favorite to one that now when I'm going to a movie I drive 45 mins away instead...
