I absolutely love and recommend Luther Burbank Park. Unfortunately, the park doesn't have a basketball court. I have lived on the island since i was a child. In fact, i celebrated my 12th birthday party at Luther burbank. I have very good memories. Lol I remember all my friends being disappointed there was not a basketball court. We played a backyard "two hand touch football" instead. But still, to this day, literally today, as i walked by, i cursed the new construction as i took my new puppy to the dog park for the first time ever, and it that actually went well. I met and chatted with some folks. I felt very welcome as a dog owner.......Back to the basketball court or lack thereof. The city decided to revamp the tennis and pickle ball courts to strictly pickle ball courts. Huge project, and it's taking forever, but i really dont care. It actually is kind of irritating me writing this, so i will stop as i am a member of the community. But there are no excuses for not using some of the sq ft to put in a basketball court. SMH, so disappointing. Also the parking is so horrible I can't even express how horrible the parking is. There have been so many times I would just drive in a circle multiple times and say screw it and left. Also the police department has relocated to Luther Burbank Park and they park there vehicles on the grass or what use to be grass they spread some gravel so it wouldn't be so muddy but it's not a good look and feels super ghetto. I would say I do recommend this park, but gosh, it's been very difficult, and it really actually feels cluttered entering the park.
Maybe give the city another year to F around with their heads up their you know what's. Anyway, I hope this actually helps to discourage people from visiting the park because it is a zoo a mess and not a good representation of the city of Mercer Island. I remind you I have been on the island 30+ years.
Thank you for...
Read moreThis park in winter is beautiful too. Few people except for off-leash dog park. In Mercer Island they don’t have a leash ordinance so many on the parks don’t require dogs on leash. They must have good recall tho! Luther Burbank does have dogs leashed in areas like swimming 🏊♀️ and playgrounds most of the park. But other parks don’t. Explore that it’s nice to let your dog be a dog!!The all fenced dog park in SMALL area right on water so dogs can run right into water. The rest of the park is grand with roped off swimming areas for people only, ( no dogs) There's still BIG fun tho! There is a south parking lot which is close to swimming area and the main lot is where the docks and dog park area can be reached. Extreme dock area guess 7 docks all connected where boats can dock also. Partly a swamp preserve too. It's all sand so be ready for sandy paws bed etc. 1 hose now right at exit/entrance allow to hose dogs off!! Excellent thinking park people!!. Colder water than Marymoor which in...
Read moreIt’s a nice park. Has many interesting sites to see. Also place for children with a child’s park far away from the side that I like to view. Can see Seattle and Bellevue from the side less populated by little ones. Honestly only come to my side not worth venturing towards the screaming yelling wild ones. Lol. So unless you have kids and the right side of the park is great for kids and the left more for adults, adults with dogs. There is a fenced dog park/enclosure so that’s a plus also. Fly my drone here cause it says this is one of the few spots where it’s not illegal to fly. For pleasure of course. And always follow rules and regulations. Cause plans do fly over not sure why it’s a approved place to drone if planes fly over head but I’ve read several different site say the same thing about it being ok to drone here. So that’s the main reason I...
