Stop and shop located on Broad St. in Meriden, CT went from a store that you once wanted to shop to an extremely dirty, smelly, understocked, all around gross establishment. The store went downhill after C-Town opened across town. Their organic/gluten free area is tiny, dirty and grossly understocked. The poor guy that works in the area tries his best, but is stuck listening to management, not what the customer's truly want or need. The meat dept. smells of dried blood and very often, I've had to return bad meat. The seafood dept. is the worst. There are flies in the case and by the smell, you know the fish is not fresh. We've purchased from there more than once, only having to return seafood. When you can find an advertised item, it's a rarity. You shouldn't advertise what you're not selling or don't even stock. The floors are sticky and to make matters worse, there is a smell throughout the store that you can't escape. The ONLY good part of the store is the pharmacy. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring. They are there even for the smallest question. Lastly, the ladies room, no matter time of day, smells like a male urinal at a truck stop. It's gross with a capital G. All in all, if you want sugar or salt based products in a filthy environment, please, feel free to shop here. I wish I could leave negative stars. Read moreI usually have a very good experience at this store, but today was quite different. I was hoping to purchase The Breyers Carb Smart ice cream on sale this week. All of the cartons that were in the case had chocolate ice cream oozing out of the cartons. I brought two to my cashier to see if I could get some assistance to see if there were any others that did not have ice cream oozing out of it. It apparently melted, refroze andp seeped out of the cover. Those cartons should have never been put in that freezer case in the first place because someone could have gotten sick and was very unsanitary. I couldn’t get anyone to help me and the cashier refused to get me help. She just kept telling me that she’s only a cashier and doesn’t do payroll or anything else. And blamed the truck drivers. All I wanted was for someone to say that they would check to see if some acceptable cartons were in the store and to acknowledge that the cartons were disgusting. Finally I did get someone to call the department and the answer was that they didn’t have any and to come back tonight because they get them in at night. The cashier proceeded to tell me that if I had nothing to do to go to the Wallingford store. I don’t think I’ll be shopping...
Read moreI come in every month for a money order. Today I stopped at customer service for one and the blonde lady who is usually working the CS desk was there.
A customer she knew was ahead of me and getting a western union. She had a ful fledged conversation with this woman for well over ten minutes and I witnessed her stopping repeatedly, probably over a dozen times bc she couldn't both talk and count money or talk and type in the computer.
It took her like four times as long to handle this customer bc they were talking the whole time and a line grew to the entrance in the meantime.
When it was finally my turn I said something to her about it and she bullcraped me and tried to say the computer can only go fast with a big smirk. I informed her of what I just said, that I witnessed her stop working repeatedly bc she couldn't both talk and work. I understand the computers take a little bit of time. Not much though and she stopped like a dozen times or more to engage in lengthy discussion.
Do you know how long it took for her to do my money order? 1 minute! Bc I didn't have a discussion with her! This is highly INAPPROPRIATE behavior at work and my time was not being respected at all and she tries to lie about it...
