I have a very sad update to share about my Sport Clips location in Meridian. The attitude here has taken an extreme reversal from the past. If getting a haircut is personal to you, then please allow me to explain...
You see, I believe getting a haircut is an intimate experience. It's not about "where" you get one, it's about "who" cuts your hair and what the atmosphere is like. For 3 years I have traveled more than 40 miles each way to have "Rachel" cut my hair. It is one of the few things I do for myself each month. One day this month, she was no longer there. Life happens, but when I found out that the staff lied to me about "why" she was no longer there - even worse that the "company" told the staff "what" to tell customers - I must now find a new salon to share my personal investment. It's true. It is not my place to decide how a company treats their employees, but it is my choice to enable them to mistreat my only "personal connection" to them - the employee that makes me come back every month. A single mother with three children trying to make a living is a hero. Just because she wants to go back to school and make a better life for herself, while continuing to work at the salon is not a reason to replace her. It should have been a reason to "reward" her with support. The company lying about why the best stylist they had is no longer available is my breaking point.
In full disclosure, here is a review I wrote 4 years ago: "At some point in our hurried lives a haircut stopped being an intimate experience. Not so with Rachel. She takes time to learn your name, remembers what you talked about during your last visit and knows what style you prefer. Hair stylist are like therapist. They often know details about our lives and Rachel is a friend who happens to be good at cutting hair! She is the one I ask for every time!"
NOW, I can't ask for Rachel and will have to move on. My intention was to remain loyal to Sport Clips... until they replaced her and lied about the reason why they let her go. Yes, getting a haircut is a personal experience in which you learn about the lives of the stylist and they become your therapist. Any salon worth its salt should recognize it is the stylist that keeps their clients coming back. We aren't cattle carrying a wallet. I come there for the personal experience. I won't be back unless Rachel comes back....
Read moreWe are so disappointed and upset with the stylist melinda..... My husband went in for a simple fade. He left with a high and tight. Not what he asked for at all.... its completely uneven. She continued to mess up and cutting more and more off until he had barely any hair left on the side. She did not acknowledge she messed up or apologize. She didn't try to bring other stylist to help or rectify the situation!!!! In the beginning she completely ignored my husband in the waiting area and didn't acknowledge us. Until 10 mins later...keep in mind we had already been in line for 80 mins. Completely unprofessional... I DONT RECOMMEND MELINDA..... one last thing she stated her guard was broken..... I dont see why she still cut his hair so short? They're are different size guards she could have used and she could have blended it using a comb and scissors!!!! Or told us to wait until another stylist was available with the right tools!!!! She reassured us that she could still give him the haircut he wanted..... 0/10 stars...
Read moreIt started off ok but then the comments that were made from the district manager were completely uncalled for. When you have a 2 year old and they won’t sit still, it’s only natural to apologize. Well when I did she said, “It’s not the kids that bother me, it’s the parents that do.” So after that I just let her do what she had to do. The experience was so bad that their Grandmother had to interfere and come take my son away from the situation. After we left she told me what happened. Well while the one lady was holding my son another lady started to cut his hair. My son had enough because after the 1.5 hour wait it was already lunchtime and nap time so he was screaming so bad. The lady cut his hair was bending his ear so far back and then she went at his hair by his ear with the sharp pair of scissors towards his eye. As my son is freaking out you don’t have scissors going towards his eye because one move in that direction she would have poked his eye out! Needless to say I’ll be learning how to do their hair...
