We came with kids and dog traveling from seeing family. The hotel is nice looking and generally clean. The service was not particularly attentive. When you got someone to give you their attention they were courteous and polite, but it felt difficult to be seen.
We came specifically for the hot tub and indoor pool because on road trips we use it to get our kids exercise between bouts of driving. The hot tub was colder than the pool, the bathroom in the pool area was out of order, and there were no towels.
The electronic shades on the window were broken. Thankfully they broke after they were closed, but still... I don't need them to be electronic. They can be analog and we'll just be happy with that, especially because we can just move them up and down as we please instead of having to rely on some stupid electronic machine to literally open the shades. Classic example of over complication through technology. Maybe they could have spent thousands less on broken electronic shades and more on the service workers.
Our dog is kind of skittish, and there were really no quiet or peaceful places to bring her to potty. We went back to an empty lot that has good tree cover across from the Drury.
Speaking of the Drury, we found the Drury to be more affordable, we were able to get a two-room suite which made it easier to get small children to bed, and their pool area and hot tub were all functional. The breakfasts were about the same, although I think the biscuits were a little bit better at the Drury. They reminded me of Popeyes buttermilk biscuits. Hilton's were still tasty though.
I think Hilton is more concerned with establishing multiple tiers of status and putting it in your face to try to get you to spend more money on an already more expensive hotel for not more value than Drury.
I think in general I am not impressed with this Hilton in the grand scheme of all the Hilton's I've stayed at. I think that there is a bit of a lapse in consistency with this hotel. I'm a Hilton honors member as well. I honestly don't feel like any extra honor was placed on me or really anything special was provided to me despite the fact that they love their status program so much. Maybe the only benefit of even being an honors member in this case was the $5 discount on the room, which should be a joke but it's true.
At the same time, I am so grateful to have had a safe, clean place to sleep. At the end of the day, that is what matters the most to me for a hotel and they delivered on that. It was adequately quiet. But if you ask me about the value for the money, I would offer that you consider the Drury...
Read moreI stayed here as a halfway stop for a drive from Texas to North Carolina.
I was very pleased with the staff at this hotel. Windy checked us in and was super sweet. Everyone on staff, from the housekeeping staff was very friendly. We will probably pick this hotel the next time we make the same drive.
I will note that we did get a phone call at 10:00pm in the evening after we went to bed as the front desk was trying to locate a barking dog (not ours, but I'm not surprised that a dog may have been barking in a pet friendly hotel, as it was New Year's Eve). I understand that the desk staff may not be able to leave their post at the desk, but if they had walked up past our room they would've heard that our room was quiet, as we had gone to bed two hours earlier. I would've preferred if they had made an effort to avoid calling us, but thankfully it didn't upset our evening too significantly. It helped that the desk was very friendly when we checked in and very apologetic when they called.
As a traveler, I also appreciated that there are cameras posted in the parking lot, and that the parking lot was well lit in front and back. I noted that a fellow guest was comfortable enough with this security that they left a rooftop cargo bag on their vehicle overnight.
There is a starbucks and other chain restaurants within a few minutes of this hotel, which makes it a convenient stop.
We didn't get the chance to check out downtown Meridian, but if we had time we would've enjoyed visiting their historic downtown.
All in all- Meridian and this hotel in particular are a great stopping point for a traveler that is traveling through and needs a place to stop that isn't Vicksburg, Jackson,...
Read moreWe were on our way to the beach and decided to stop at this Hilton for the night. We always stay at Hilton’s so we booked this one. When we arrived there were three ladies at the front and they were all talking then one stepped over to ask us who we booked under. Gave her the name and she handed us the keys and that was it. She didn’t mention what room we were in or where the elevators were or mention any of the stuff they had to offer which whatever we figured it out. We took the kids to the pool later which everything was fine until the kids started screaming and crying that their feet were hurting. They had got cut on something in the pool and their toes were bleeding. Not sure what it was but possibly the pool chipping. Told the lady at the desk and she offered us a bandaid and said she would tell the maintenance guy but didn’t seem concerned. I went up to the room to give my daughter a bath to make sure her toes were clean and the bath tub had hair all over it and was out of the shampoo and conditioner on the wall so it made me think it wasn’t cleaned. Told the same lady at the desk and she just said sorry and handed me some small bottles. Again she wasn’t concerned with any of the problems we were having. My friend and his little boys room had wet carpet and didn’t get offered a different room either. We were told to call Terri ( the manager) which I called several times, left a couple of messages and never got a call back. I would not...
