Mdq Watersports and Jet Ski Rental — Attraction in Miami Beach

So I’m not sure how they have a perfect 5-star. Maybe a lot of inexperienced jet ski riders? Fake reviews, because this was the absolute WORST experience ever. I am an experienced woman on a jet ski.

We had the SMALLEST area to ride, they also allowed us on the water without properly explaining to us about the gas gauge so when it said I needed gas, I tried to let our “helper on the water” know this. But, let me tell you….this man was horrible. He didn’t know ANY English. Which really wasn’t even the biggest problem. The problem was his demeanor, he was very impolite and careless. Kept blowing his whistle at myself and my 11 year old daughter who was riding with me. Kept telling us to move away from him when on 2 different occasions, I needed his help. One was about the gas, he wouldn’t listen, just blew his whistle and basically told us to get away with hand gestures. Little did I know, when it says YOUR LOW AND BEEPS, you still have an hour left of gas (not sure why they are leaving their jet skis low anyways). This was not explained to us before our ride.

The second time I needed him, my daughter’s nose started bleeding. Her hands were covered in blood because the waves were extremely chopping so we kept getting smashed when we tried to go in the opposite direction. Like I said, it’s like we were rats in a cage just going back and forth in a line!! When her nose and hands were covered in blood I tried to approach him again, and same rude demeanor, he wouldn’t listen. I finally had to throw my hands up (signaling to him) I wasn’t going to move. Again, he didn’t speak any English so we couldn’t communicate. My daughter had to stand up on the jet ski to show him her face covered in blood. Just a complete jerk!!!!!! He even told another member of our group in Spanish, “you need to move away and if you crash, I’m not helping you up.”

I just don’t understand how careless the owner and management can be to allow someone who isn’t bilingual on the water to assist people AND someone who is just completely unwilling to help. Manager claimed most riders they encounter don’t listen to the rules. That is absolutely no excuse! I would never recommend this place for multiple reasons. My boyfriend and I went on a vacation to Miami just recently and wanted to take him jet skiing for his birthday. I’ve looked at a lot of jet ski rental places and looked at plenty of reviews and came across MDQ. Wasn’t pricey at all, so I’ve decided to book. Got a text about the information prior to our reservation. I asked a question and she responded back quickly. The day of, May 6, we met at the meet up spot and met Silvina, she was super friendly and welcoming. Since it was hot she offered us some water. Get to the jet ski, her husband explained how to ride and we got on and started riding. When everyone got on their jet ski we started riding, but there was something wrong with mine at first because the fastest it wasn’t going was 10 mph. I informed the instructor because he seen something was wrong and he told me to switch with him. After the switch, it was the best experience ever. He was super nice because we switched so I could really get the experience of driving the jet ski. He made it so comfortable and took pictures and videos of everyone. I highly recommend, 10/10. At the end when we were going back to the dock, the instructor tried to airdrop the photos/ videos that he took but it wasn’t working so he told us that he was going to tell his wife so she can email it to us. Hours went by, so I guess he forgot, but it wasn’t a big deal, so I texted Silvina and mentioned it to her and she responded back quickly. I looked at a ton of reviews for jet ski rental companies in Miami and after careful consideration, I ended up making the ultimate decision to contact MDQ Water Sports with a few questions. Silvina responded back quickly. After being satisfied with Silvina’s answers to my questions and her quick response time. I felt comfortable enough to book with her. Booking was a breeze and her communication was top notched. After booking, she told us what time and where to meet because the boat would be picking us up to take us to the jet skis. I got a text from her on the walk to the meeting spot with a few pictures of the boat that would be picking us saying her husband (Fabian) would be there in 5 minutes which was still a few minutes ahead of schedule. They were very punctual. Boat picked us up and took us to the jet skis, it was a very nice and relaxing 15 minute boat ride. The boat was very comfortable and even had some hip hop music playing. We got to the jet skis, got suited up with the life vests by Silvina, than Fabian went over the basic controls of the jet skis and the next thing we were off and running. We weren’t able to take our phone out on the ocean with us, but NO WORRIES, Fabian takes tons of pictures and even a video of your whole experience than sends them to you while on the boat ride back.
