Gordon Food Service Store — Attraction in Miami

Fiancee went to pick up groceries at this store today. As he was shopping, an employee came up and asked him, "Are you going to pay for that?". They went on about how meat can't be left out for too long / abandoned without going bad, even after he said he of course was going to buy it. Employee then continued following him around and talking into their radio and counting every time he picked something out. He left the cart for a couple seconds to look for an item, and the cart was missing. After going to the front to ask, they offered no explanation or apology but radioed for the employee to take the cart to the front. They didn't ask whether he was done shopping (we had more items on our list!) and had him pay at a special cash register. Asked for an ID and took pictures of it. Refused to give any bags or boxes for our (many) grocery items. Security guard proceeded to not only follow him out, but follow him across the parking lot to his car. I don't know why they assumed someone shopping for groceries at a grocery store was a thief, but treating customers like this isn't okay. We'd made online orders during the pandemic that we picked up [longer wait/pickup time, but worth it for how cheap their prices on meat are]; this was our first time shopping in person. No apology or explanation...

Best priced items: Pork "cheek" and pork ribs (under $2.00/lb). Quality coffee, various sale prices at various times. Many canned veges well-priced (under $5.00). Most frozen veges OK. Turkey/beef meatballs; ch. wings (uncooked); frozen hamburg & turkey about $3.00/lb. Bananas usually OK; always at $0.59/lb. Parboiled rice and bulk flour good prices. Bulk fresh veges well-priced (esp. potatoes, lg. onions, green peppers). Usually 20-25% less than Publix throughout, except for odd things like iodized salt, Tetley tea (2x Publix price); bleach (cheaper at Home Depot); plastic bags the same. Store folks always cheery and pleasant, anxious to please. Efficient checkout. Clean, always clean. Well-run store, good, helpful management. No plastic bags; just boxes (it works OK). Large selection, more than fairly priced overall. Upper management also responsive. Provide a modest credit for all purchases towards upcoming payments. Nice feature. Restaurant quality...

Consistently Good Experience at GFS: The GFS near me closed because it was not as popular as the other locations. Therefore, I have found it necessary to visit other GFS locations when out running my errands. I have found that I have had a consistently good and pleasant GFS shopping experience regardless of the location. The employees are welcoming to the point that they make you feel that it is a pleasure to go above and beyond in pleasing their customers. My family really enjoys their bacon, and the way I am treated as a customer makes travelling there to stock up during their bacon...
