I recently attended a 50th birthday party at Bar Nancy on 8th Street, and while the event itself was fantastic, the experience with the owner, Ben, was disappointing. My friend rented the place for a private event, and everything from the live band to the ambiance was incredible. It was truly a great venue for a celebration. However, when it came to customer service, Ben was not up to par. He treated me like trash but heâs the trash! So sad to say but it is so true! I was mortified by his actions to say the least. I did not feel welcome after he did what he did to me.
I asked for cognac, and initially, I was told there was none available. After asking for a mixed drink with Hennessy VS, suddenly, cognac was miraculously available. I ordered a double shot neat and it was nice and smooth as usual. I saw him pour the shot and it was just a little bit left so I basically finished the bottle. I ordered another double and this time he said he had to get another bottle in the back⊠The second drink wasnât what I asked for. It was not Hennessy at all. I know my drink and whatever he put in that cup was not it. When I brought it to Benâs attention, he was short with me and didnât say a word. I had to ask another bartender to fix another drink, and when Ben came over, he snatched it from me without any acknowledgment or apology. He did remove it from the tab, but his rude behavior was very off-putting and quite rude. A friend of mine order another shot for me hoping it was a mistake. I tasted it again and it was not the correct drink. To be sure that I wasnât crazy I asked my friends to smell and taste the drink and they concurred it was not what I asked for. One of my friends stated it was sweeter and tasted more like whiskey. He also confronted the owner about it and Ben responded he has no control over what is done in the back. He was refunded for the drink as well. Iâm sorry but as the owner of the establishment you need to make it your business to know what is going on or at least try and find out!!! If he didnât do it someone there did it. I most certainly didnât do it! I was there to have a good time and was robbed!
While the celebration itself was amazing, customer service should be a priority in any business. Itâs unfortunate that the ownerâs attitude soured what could have been a perfect night. Hopefully, he takes this feedback to heart for...
Read moreThanks to a dear friend's intro to this awesome hidden gem on Calle Ocho, I was instantly in LOVE with this place!
But, full disclosure, any place named in reference of a sailing vessel that played a part in the American Revolution, I am totally going to nerd-out like...hard! I enjoyed reading the namesake on the menu and I LOVED that the cocktails were all referential as well.
The vibe was fantastic and it was great to see people just up and dancing even though it was crowded. I liked that it wasn't "forced participation"...you could actively participate or just sit back and chill and people watch (what I did) and either way you were gonna enjoy yourself.
The band that was playing was "fire" and did some sick '90s covers.
The only reason for a docked star was my friend didn't enjoy any of his drinks and he's been to this place several times, but apparently our bartender might have been new and was reading the recipes on the bar when making the drinks. Mine were fine, but I ordered "safely" and I have a somewhat diff palate when it comes to some cocktails than my friend. There was one drink he just literally could not drink, but was too polite to send it back.
The cocktails are in the $14 range, but they use quality ingredients to justify the cost, even being in the Ocho area.
I really enjoyed my visit here and cannot wait to come back the next time I...
Read moreThe Worst experience ever ⊠THANK YOU LAZARO⊠you should take a course about hospitality and restaurant. The owner should fire you !!! And if you are the owner, wich I am sure you are not, close the bar and find a job in a library.
The place had no food not crafters beers âŠ: we were here celebrating a birthday, 12 persons , starving the only food was yuka and fries ⊠we wanted to eat so we ordered everything on the menu plus some quesadillas for next door mini restaurant.
The bartender called the police on us âŠbecause the quesadillas CALLED THE POLICE!!!! The restaurant had 4 other customers⊠we were 12 ordering whatever they had and the beers and drinks !!!
Bro⊠you need to use the common sense !!! If you donât have wine I can bring mine and you charge me for that ⊠you could do the same for 4 quesadillas!!
Was not our fault if you have a menu and not the food What is on it .
Even the police was âthey need to eat â!! Also you ruined the tab for the poor waitress ⊠The only decent table Tuesday night.. great job!!
People DONât go there ⊠at least I warned you. I wish someone would have said something in the reviews about the...
