Rocco's Tavern — Attraction in Michigan City

Very disappointing, was hoping for a quality restaurant in our neighborhood but after three chances and close to $2,000.00 in expenditures ay their establishment I have given up on this store. First time they lost our reservation that was made 20 days in advance because we had out of town guests. They said they had important VIP guest at the booth we reserved, so they say us outside and nobody had the right cloths to be sitting outside in 60 degree weather but we went with it with the understanding that they would move us in when tables opened up. Never happened so our group spent 1,100.00 on a dinner that was not enjoyed due to drizzle and 60 degree temps. They gave us a pice of coconut cake to share with 6 people for the misunderstandings. Last night again we went to give them a shot again with three guests and failures happened again. They were out of mint jelly for the second time my wife wanted the lamb chops the reason we went. So she pivoted and had a nice steak fritz meal and was disappointed but happy. My guest had ordered the special steak stroganoff and enjoyed the meal. Came time to box up the leftovers and the busser gentleman took my guests plate and casserole dish full of leftovers andwe waited for box to come back never came, we asked and Bobby found out kid threw the full plate and casserole away, she was disapointed . My meal came I ordered the ribeye med rare temp was good but it was not good quality meat. I asked my friend to try it and she said "That's really tough for prime steak". I had about 4 bites and gave up on all the silverskin and grissle (Not Fat) in the steak. Took A bite of my loaded bake potato and it was literally ice cold, they microwave my potato and it came back in a soup of liquids and mush. Sorry owners have never been there one time that we were there. If this was a run of the mill steak house We would go back but at around $175.00 per person...

Pls read!! Food was alright, Steak Fritz is served with thick tomato slices? Got the “Fritz” a little later on. The truffle fries were great!! The prices of their food is a bit crazy to me, $52 for 8oz filet. Complimentary bread isn’t very complimentary, $8…. They never brought out one of our meals so we decided to just cancel that one meal entirely. They also brought out one of the sides to another one of our meals 20 or so mins after the food came out. Luckily they gave us some desert on the house.

A bit crammed, pretty loud. But a nice spot nonetheless. We must’ve came in on a special night, a DJ appeared and the party officially started Lol.

Still not 100% if this horrible smell was from the food or somewhere else but WOW it smelt like a cow pasture for a while… maybe it was the lamb or oysters next to us 🫠

Overall wasn’t bad, got great service. I don’t think we will be returning though… The whole paying for a bit of bread and just forgetting to bring out a whole meal...

I don't normally leave reviews, good or bad, but I hope this rare review helps more than it hurts. Simply put, the team needs to step it up. Service was atrocious. Everyone has bad nights, and this was one of them. Drink orders took way to long, 20-30 minutes for a beer? Food was hit or miss and for the price point, it was disappointing. I see the potential of this restaurant, and I hope for nothing but the best for visitors to enjoy their time here while supporting local business. Please pull it together as I plan on a 2nd visit.
