I'm not a big "designer coffee" fan as I call it. Coffee is merely hot water run through dirt. My wife and had some time to kill before my photo shoot down the street so we decided to give this place a try.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming being only two. They were hustling as more people came in. They really could have used one more person to help as a couple of customers left when the wait was beginning to become a bit long.

We both ordered the NOVUS ORDO. I must say, those Catholics know how to make a cup of java! This was DELICIOUS! I had low expectations but my taste buds were screaming with enjoyment. I had an apple fritter that didn't make it to pics below. I ate it too quick. It was that good. My wife had the PARMA POLICE. Luckily, I didn't get arrested after stealing a bite. The bun/bagel was soft but crunchy at the same time which made the bite magical. Nicely created breakfast sandwich!

The ambiance was artistic and soothing. The only flaw, I observed, was the over use of paper cups and plastic. IF there was a way to limit the garbage/waste and get more help behind the counter, this would be a place that would make the area stand out. I visited the Michigan City IN location today while doing some runs and smiley friendly Clarissa greeted me so nicely upon entering the cafe. Clarissa assisted me in customizing a drink that was fit for me, so I ordered a hot dirty Beetlejuice! It's a fantastic drink! Her customer service and positive friendly attitude was so nice! Actually, every location (both Valpo locations, never been inside Crown Point yet) has friendly baristas and its awesome when management hires happy people who like their job or at least act like it in front of the customer. So, kudos to Clarissa-- it was nice meeting her as this was my 1st time seeing her at this location. I am JUST WAITING for the owners to open a full-blown Chesterton location! It would have amazing business on Indian Boundary Rd. for the Indiana Dunes tourists coming into town to find some good stellar coffee (cuz we know Dunkin' is not special) and for the ones that don't want Starbucks inside the Jewel-Osco.
