My rating is based solely on the way this business operates and not geared towards any specific employee. Actually, the gal that was helping my mom and I was very sweet, talkative, and although she seemed new, she was really helpful.
Long story short, I went to the Porter County Bridal Expo and signed up to win (quote) "$500 gift card to Paris House of Bridal". Awesome. A few days later, I got a text message saying I was one of the winners. I was so happy. I called to verify that I received the message and set up an appointment. The gal on the phone explained it to me that I was going to get "5- $100 gift cards to be used on Bridesmaid Dresses, my dress, Cleaning & Preservation, and Accessories". I explained to her that I already had my dress but would like to bring my mom and mother in-law in to pick out a dress and asked if the credit could be used towards that, which she confirmed that I could.
I went in today with my mom to pick out her dress. She wanted a shorter dress, which they only had maybe a dozen short dresses designated as MOB/MOG dresses. She found ONE that she liked. She tried it on, fell in love. Price tag= $299. I'm thinking, okay great. Best case scenario, they will just subtract $299 +tax from my $500 credit. Worst case scenario, they will only let me use 1-$100 gift card on it, and unfortunately, the other 4-$100 gift cards are essentially going right back in their pocket because I had already bought my dress, wasn't going to wear a veil, had my shoes, and my bridesmaids were getting their dresses from Azazie.
When we go up to the register to pay, they said the total was $320 and that my credit didn't apply towards MOB/MOG dresses. I got upset and explained that the gal on the phone said it could, and even if I could only use 1, that we would pay the difference. I explained my frustrations that whoever I spoke on the phone to was very misleading about the restrictions of how I can spend the credit. She said that I could apply $20 of my credit towards the dress, making the total we would owe- $300. I pleaded with her that, I was told I could use my credit towards this dress, and if I could've only used $20, what was even the point? They were not transparent about this at all, and I specifically asked on the phone if the credit was good towards a MOTHER OF THE BRIDE or MOTHER OF THE GROOM DRESS which the employee confirmed that it was. So now that I'm face to face with the employees, they are claiming that I can only use $20 of the credit towards this Mother of the bride dress. I asked if there was any way we could do anything better, and we would pay the difference because my mom loved this dress but spending $300 on a dress you're only going to wear once and for 12 hrs isn't really practical. She said she would go ask her manager, and came back shortly after saying her manager said we could apply $25 towards the dress.
Needless to say, my mom and I walked out not spending a penny, knowing we will never step foot in there again, nor recommend anyone we know to go there.
If you're going to give away stuff & have stipulations attached to it, make sure your employees specify & don't give people false promises because you will lose business. And from the looks of it, I'm far from the first person who doesn't have many good things to say...
Read moreMother of the bride hereâŠ. A quiet, gentle, no confrontational, mother of the bride, btw. Let me start by saying my daughter loved her wedding dressâŠ.. after we finally got it. Initially, were told a price for the dress and given a separate fee of $500 for alterations that needed to be paid in cash. The alterations were discussed in detail at the time of purchase. We took pictures with us to show them what my daughter wanted. They showed us how they would make the alterations and gave us a quote for the alterations . We took pictures of what was promised by them. We never asked for any additional alterations after the day of the sale. I did ask them not to show the price if the dress or the alterations to my daughter since I was paying for the dress and I didnât want her to pick a dress depending on price. . They emailed my daughter the dress fee and the alteration fee that I had signed for and already paid. THEN, at the first fitting they told me I had to pay another $250 for CUSTOM alterations. Arenât all alterations custom? I told them I had already paid their previous quote of $500 in full. I had a signed quote from them showing it was paid. They didnât care. I had to pay another $25O. At the next fitting they tried to get my daughter to change her alteration requests. I could tell my daughter felt pressured, so I had to politely step in and show them the pictures of them holding up the materials they had initially promised, and requested they complete the CUSTOM alterations they said they would complete. At the next fitting, a part of her dress was missing. They said we did not request the wrap we said was missing. I, again, had to show them the pictures of THEM holding the material they promised to use for the wrap when they first sold us the dress. At the next fitting there were no built in bra pads in the top of the dress like we had discussed at the initial purchase of the dress. They added them, and charged me another $76 for them. At the final fitting, it was obvious that the final touches were rushed. Some areas looked like I had sewn themâŠ.when I was in kindergarten ! My daughter was very disappointed with the final touches. We very kindly requested that they âclean upâ the messy, bulky, and loose areas of thread and place the correct buttons in the correct areas. They finally did, after a long, polite, but stern, conversation. The owner was always in charge of the alterations . She always acted frazzled and rushed, as if we were an inconvenience. I am 100% convinced that if we had not taken initial photos, and constantly reminded them of the promises they made at the initial sale, that my daughter would not have gotten the dress design she requested for...
Read moreThis place is a flat out JOKE. The first time I went in to find an outfit for my daughter's wedding it really wasn't so bad. I told them what I was looking for they had something very similar so I ordered it.......it all goes downhill from there. A month after I ordered it they called to confirm the color. They said "oh it doesn't come in that color, but we can make it for you". I ordered something similar to the original outfit. I was told it would be in not later than November. The first week of December comes and I have heard nothing so I called them. I told the girl who answered what I was looking for. She put me on hold and when she came back to the phone she said "good news, that came in on Oct. 12". It would have been nice to get a call telling me it was in. I made an appointment to go try it on. They obviously made the jacket themselves because the zipper was not even sewn on yet and there was no tag on the inside with the designers name on it or cleaning instruction, no tag, period. So they made the jacket but still charged me designer price. It was still a nice outfit so I went ahead and paid the remaining balance. A few weeks go by and I noticed the the remaining balance was taken out of my account twice. I call and explain this to the manager. I have paperwork from my bank showing the transaction was deducted twice but this is good enough. I have a picture of the check, I have my statement that shows it deducted twice but since their machine didn't print out a receipt at the end of their business day they said they could not refund me. I set a time to meet with the manager to discuss this, I drive and hour to the store, I have all of the paperwork with me. I go in and ask for this manager and believe it or not she has left for the day. She knew I was coming yet she left to avoid me. After spending an hour at the store insisting that the employees get the manager on the phone, talking to her and whoever their accounting company is they finally agreed to reimburse me. I will never enter that store again and I will make it my mission to let everyone I talk to and to slam social media with how terrible the customer service is...
