The Boathouse Grill — Restaurant in Michigan City

I normally don't get this in-depth with the review but I feel like I need to. Bravo to the owner and his staff. I've had good customer service in the past I've had bad customer service in the past but I've never had customer service this perfect before. One of the burgers was just a little too red for somebody I was eating with not only did they remake the burger they also refunded us for it which was so far above and beyond I can't express how grateful that I am. If people locally are not supporting this place I feel sad for them. Not only that the food was delicious The service was impeccable even though they were swamped they got us in and out and a reasonable amount of time. I hate to give reviews like this. We ordered lunch for several of our coworkers. The hot dog buns were basically mush. They were over steamed and fell apart. The chili on the chili dogs was basically meat and tomato paste. It had no flavor. The cheese curds and mozzarella sticks tasted ok, a bit cold but that could easily of been from the drive back, however the marinara they give you was really just a cold tomato paste. The onion rings were not crisps and if you hold one in a napkin and squeeze nothing but oil dripped out of them. I don't mean the oil you would expect from something fried. I mean like cover several pieces of paper towel amounts of oil. The cheese sauce they used for the dog's and the side was less flavorful then even gas station nacho cheese sauce. Well, I have ate here a few times now so I’m going to add my own two cents… To begin, I don’t care much for when you pay at the counter the computer asks if you want to leave a tip…? You must be kidding…? A guy takes your order at the window and you then have to walk over to the pick up window to get your order…! It is self serv, so who should get a tip? No waitresses or waiter, you wait on yourself…Ridiculous…! Then, the prices are a bit steep… A small beef sandwich and a small order of fries and a small coke will set you back $16.67, that’s right $16.67 and they ask you for a tip when you order…!
