.. hard to tell when these photos were taken. .. no date, but when I first went down through (and there have been more recently about 3.5 trips down the east coast to Florida and back within the past 5 - 6 years) there were portions of the coast line in one area that appeared to have had water washed up onto the land that smelled, and looked polluted. There were dead fish there. That place was near what appeared to be an old deserted foundry. After driving around for a time, I noticed there were security vehicles patrolling the place, and I got the sensation I shouldn't be there, not that the property was closed to the public or signs applied to keep trespassers out, but I felt highly sensitive to an extremely negative vibe, there so I got back in the car, and left the area. Read moreIf you are looking for nice beaches on the east coast, this should be on your bucket list. The beach was clean and less crowded, the water was cold and overall the beach was in good shape. You can avoid a few rocky patches if you like walking along the beach in cold water like me. Cold water, crashing waves, and the sun make this a great relaxing place.
Lifeguards were present on site, restrooms were present on the boardwalk and in the convention center. Street-paid parking was available for 50 min, there is also an option to park in the Cape Island Baptist Church parking lot if you are willing to pay 20$ for the day.
