This might have been one of the best dinners of my life. Every single thing we ate was phenomenal, from the focaccia bread course to the desserts. We ordered the octopus appetizer, which was cooked perfectly with a stunning romesco sauce. For entrees, we ordered the fish of the day, which was an amazing branzino, the lamb cavatelli, the French chicken, and the Cabernet short rib. All were spectacular!! John, our server, was knowledgeable and attentive, and even arranged a special shout out for my in-laws who were celebrating 33 years of marriage! Seriously, if you are looking for a special dinner in South Jersey, look no further.

Usually hotels' restaurants are just some place you go if you are too lazy to go somewhere else. I decided to go against all odds and drive to go to this one, because there were some nice pictures on Google, just to find out that it is just what it was supposed to be. The food was not bad, but it was not good also and there were only two main courses available on the whole menu. The small bites were limited and they brought the chicken fingers with no side ( despite the indication on the menu), which was corrected after we complained. The service and environment were fine, but I'd not go back again based on the menu.

We stopped into SeaSalt Restaurant for drinks and a couple of appetizers and had a great experience. We sat in the bar area, which had a nice, relaxed vibe. We tried the panzanella salad and the ahi tuna tacos off the bar menu, both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Perfect for a lighter bite before dinner. Our server was excellent, attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving at just the right pace. Definitely a spot we’d return to for a casual drink, apps, or even a full dinner next time we’re in Cape May!

I would not recommend this restaurant.

I made a 5:30 PM reservation despite seeing some negative reviews, thinking it couldn’t be that bad since me and my husband aren’t really picky. They had plenty of availability, and now I understand why.

When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty with tons of open tables. The hostess asked if we’d mind sitting outside. I explained it was too hot for our one-year-old, and we preferred to sit inside. She brought us to the back of the restaurant and sat us at a tiny two-person table crammed between two larger tables, one with a party of six to eight people, and the other with two adults and a baby (they were sitting at a four person table).

Even if it were just me and my husband, the two person table would’ve been tight, but adding a high chair made it completely unworkable. Our toddler could reach everything on the table, including the bread basket, and was close enough to touch the other diners’ tables.

After trying to make it work after ordering a few appetizers, we realized it just wasn’t feasible. I went back to the host stand to explain the situation and asked politely if we could move, even if that meant sitting outside. The hostess said she’d see what she could do… and then never came back for 20 minutes. During that time, someone brought us a Caesar salad that belonged to someone else.

Eventually, the hostess returned and said there were no other available tables, not even outside , until 7:30 PM. Meanwhile, the restaurant and outdoor patio still looked mostly empty.

Frustrated, we asked for the check. At that point, I was in tears. A man I assume was the manager finally came over and offered to move us to a different table - but at that point, the experience was already ruined and I made an unnecessary scene hysterical crying at the table. Where was that table 40 minutes ago?

We ended up paying $70 for a glass of wine, Caesar salad, bruschetta, and soup — all thrown in a box to go, which ended up in the garbage. The soup was watery and they barely gave us any salad.

Thankfully, we went to Pier House (inside La Mer Hotel) afterward and had a fantastic dinner. Highly recommend that spot instead. The service and food are great.

When I went to leave a review on OpenTable the next morning, I noticed Sea Salt had canceled my reservation, meaning I couldn’t leave feedback there. It seems I’m not the only one this has happened to, based on...

This review is for breakfast: We are locals and go out to eat a lot during the summer. We usually like going to Sea Salt for breakfast as it's a nice outdoor dining experience. But this place has really gone downhill. It has always had inconsistent service, but this summer, the service is even more unreliable and the food is below average---and extremely expensive ($16 for eggs and sausage----and that doesn't include the $4 coffee). Today, we went there at 8:20 (they open for breakfast at 8 a.m.). The umbrellas on the deck weren't open. I waited at the front podium but no host was there. Three workers tried their best to pretend they didn't see me. One finally seated me outside. It took at least 5-10 minutes for our waitress to come even though the place was nearly empty. We were brought coffee, but there were no sugars in the containers on the table. We had to ask for cream, and when we got it, it was half a small container with a demarkation line at the top, indicating that it had been used by another table and brought to us. We got our breakfast. I had ordered the Norweigan Eggs Benedict ($18). When I tried to cut a piece, the English muffin was hard. I couldn't even cut through it even though I "sawed" with my knife several times. Ridiculous. Ofc, our waitress hadn't dropped off our meals, and she didn't come back for at least 7 - 10 minutes after the helper had dropped them off. At that point, I told her to take it back and that I didn't want a replacement because my husband would be done eating by that time.

No wonder this place isn't as crowded as so many other places in town: You're paying a LOT and getting subpar...

Sun, Surf & Seriously Good Food! 🌊🍴

We rolled into the restaurant yesterday with a big group and, let’s be honest, we weren’t exactly the easiest table to handle. 😅 But the staff—especially the waiters and the manager—were absolute rockstars. Patient, warm, and accommodating through all our back-and-forth, they made us feel right at home.

Now, let’s talk food. We went all out: juicy panzanella salad, vibrant bruschetta, refreshing watermelon salad, perfectly grilled filet, fresh oysters, an ocean’s bounty of fish, fall-off-the-bone BBQ ribs—and yes, we saved room for dessert. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and came out surprisingly fast for a group our size. Compliments to the chef for absolutely nailing it across the board.

We were hoping to grab a table on the breezy oceanfront patio (major beach vibes!) but it was already packed. Still, the coastal charm carried through the whole space—laid-back, welcoming, and full of energy.

In short, top-tier hospitality and food that hits the spot. Whether you’re craving seafood or something smoky off the grill, this place serves up a slice of beachside heaven. Five stars from...
