The MWC ACO is great and they truly try to find rescues and homes for everyone's throw away animals. Then you have people like Nathan Kelley who leave a bad review because of his own problems. The shelter isn't here to coddle your feelings or make you feel better about dumping off your responsibilities on them. YOU and your family decided to take in a puppy. Now 6 months later all of a sudden you woke up one day and decided to move like it's some kind of surprise that you haven't been planning for a while now. Apparently there's no pet-friendly housing anywhere either. So you bring your pup to the shelter and you're mad that they don't tell you everything is going to be OK so don't worry about it? Well they said that because everything is NOT going to be OK. They are over crowded and owner-surrenders have no hold-time because they know no one is looking for them. So now you're mad that they try to convince you to find a good home for your dog though facebook or other sites so they don't have to put down your puppy. Of course they are not going to be thrilled about it. At the end of the day you got what you wanted. You got to dump your responsibility on someone else and now she's their problem - if she's still alive - and you're worry-free. What else did you want? Sorry, they were probably all out of...
Read moreI found a huge dog outside of my apartment that probably weighed 90 pounds, he had a tag for the Oklahoma city animal welfare but I couldn't get a hold of anyone. I drove to the nearest shelter (midwest city animal welfare) it was closing soon so I called and asked if I could drop him off, they said "as long as it's before 6" as if this wasn't a big deal. He also suggested that if I didn't make it in time to keep him over night? I get there just in time and like I said he's a big dog so he was dragging me around as I was trying to lead him. There were 3 people two, of which were big men just standing outside watching feet from me as I'm being yanked by this dog and not one person offered to help me control him. They then proceeded to accuse me of giving them a false address and said that my residence "didn't exist". They asked for my license and said it had to have an adress on it, I was new the area so I didn't have one. I showed them what I could to prove my residence but they were very rude to me about the whole ordeal. The woman and older man (didn't get their names) were very condecending and rude the whole time and did not offer any help other than to make acusing comments. I'm very disappointed with their behavior especially because I was just trying to help this dog off...
Read moreMy Wife went up there to drop off 2 kittens 😸, alil over a month old I'd guess. We found them in the brushes next to a building down a couple blocks from our house, while we was on our morning walk. My wife had made sure to call up there to find out all the info she could about how to go about dropping them off, what times they open an close also go to lunch, and does she need to bring anything else with her. They lady told her has long as their eyes are open and weigh 2 pounds or so I can't remember but the kittens passed and could go to the MWC Animal Welfare. My wife takes a Uber, I mind you we were low on funds at the time so she could only order a 2 way trip from home to the shelter and back home. When she got there the last asked for a I.D. which my wife didn't take. They would not accept the 2 kittens that we had no way of feeding. The cop even told my wife that if they find them outside she would get arrested. So she came back home with the kittens, and we tried hard for a couple days to nurse them and it just didn't work out. Both of them passed away and I buried them out in the back yard. It was so sad, my wife cried so hard over them and whole situation. I feel that I was poor lack of human sympathy and love on the workers and cop at the Animal Welfare building...
