Milford Auto Sound Security — Attraction in Milford

I don't know where these positive reviews can possibly be coming from. Perhaps the business has recently changed hands...

I went here because some of the reviews mentioned quality work done on vintage cars, so I felt confident bringing my recently acquired 1986 VW there. Sadly the shop completely ruined the drop dead mint stock VW cassette deck that was in the car when they replaced a speaker. This is something that can never be replaced at any price.

When I dropped the car off I asked if they had the proper tools to remove the radio. I was told yes, they did. When I got the call that the car was ready I was told "there is a little crack that we fixed, nothing to worry about". When I looked at the car I immediately saw where improper tools were used to remove the radio. Honestly, it looked like someone had tried to rip the radio out with a crowbar. The once pristine deck now had 4 large cracks in it and a chunk of it was held on using tape! Also, in a poor attempt to fix this damage, glue was misused, resulting in the cassette deck door being glued onto the top of the unit, rendering it inoperable. The deck also no longer sat in flush with the dash. The tech came out and told me not to worry, he will fix everything. He pulled out the wrong tool and proceeded to jam it in and continue butchering the stereo RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! When I told him he was not using the correct tool he assured me he was and proceeded to struggle, to no avail, to remove the unit. I told him he had done enough damage and to stop what he was doing. He then gave me a partial refund and I left.

When I got home things went from bad to worse. I properly and easily removed the radio as I had the correct tools and chunks of the faceplate came falling off. I was furious. The deck is damaged beyond repair. I called and demanded a full refund, which I was told I'd receive. I drove back to the shop where they then tried to short me on the refund.

I wanted to like the shop. There aren't many such shops these days. The tech was friendly, but sadly incompetent and dishonest. If you have a beater car and want a $19.99 stereo put in it maybe these guys could do it without too much damage. But if you have something nice, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. And if you find a reputable shop, please let me know. Sadly I need to get my...

Be Careful! Didn't have the best experience, also didn't have a too bad of an experience. The ONLY reason why I am neutral is because the bad parts about this place canceled out the good review I was going to write originally.

THESE ARE NEW OWNERS...so be aware when looking at older reviews. It is not the same people in charge.

I'm grateful because I got what I wanted. They even offered me an option to finance the work I wanted done.... AMAZING!

HOWEVER...Some things didn't sit well with me.

CONS:

1. Lack of communication. Instead of making a quick call to say hey sorry we are going to need more time on your car...they let me think my car was still on schedule. (Caused minor problems)

2. When I call to follow up at closing time, I get a little sense that they caught an attitude with me like I'm a huge inconvenience. Didn't appreciate that, but kept quiet.

3. They made a very small but noticable scratch on the exterior of my car while installing the backup camera.

In Conclusion: I personally wouldn't go there anymore. I feel like I didn't get treated respectfully after we made the deal.

They are good intentioned people, but I feel that they need more time to get their biz more refined since they just recently took ownership...

My boyfriend got me the Apple Car Play that I had been talking about for a year for Christmas! When I bought my car, the dealership suggested going here to get the car play put in as the worked with them specifically. I went there and at the time, it was a little out of my price range, so I couldnt get it. For Christmas this year, my boyfriend purchased a gift certificate from Milford Auto and Sound for the apple car play that I could not stop talking about for a year! I dropped my car off there at 9am, put the keys in the box and left, with no idea what this was going to look like. (i searched some youtube videos but they were all different) when I picked my car back up I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER !! They did an AMAZING job installing the Sony Radio with apple car play! When i went there to pick my car up, everyone was so friendly, we were even. joking around a bit! The man that brought me out to my car, showed me everything on the radio, how to use it, went through everything with me to make sure my camera and steering wheel controls were still working. Everything worked great, and it looks amazing! I could not be happier!
