Avoid this business at all costs or be prepared to be fully taken advantage of.
After driving 50 minutes to this location from Providence, the closest place to repair my device with an Asurion claim, with a processed claim number to get my screen fixed/replaced on my Pixel 7 Pro, I arrived to this location five minutes after they opened at 10:05am on a Monday. I was promptly quoted that it wouldn't be ready until 6pm, UNLESS I was willing to pay an additional $99 for an 'expeditated service' or if I signed up for additional protection on home devices that runs $31 monthly that I was pitched on, in which case it could MaGiCaLlY be ready in just 2 hours!
Through my mobile carrier (Verizon) I already pay to cover my device with a monthly insurance payment. To be told that I had to pay extra or buy additional service in order to get my device fixed in a reasonable amount of time so that I could go to my job 2 hours in the opposite direction is cruel, money-gouging business practice.
So instead, I drove back home after burning up a half tank of gas and two hours of my life to file another claim and have the device shipped directly to my residence - for the surprisingly and certainly coincidental deductible of $99 (wow!). Had I known I were going to be separated from an additional $99 one way or another, I would have opted to begin this device shipment process on the previous Friday evening when the incident occurred and my phone stopped working. Or, better yet going forward I think I'll just avoid this racket all together and give my business to a local screen repair company if I need this service again.
Asurion and its company uBreakiFix is a predatory business that aims to take as much money from you that you can possibly tolerate for it's 'services' one way or another, while feeding you the false illusion that it might actually cost you $0 to render their services - you just get to choose the which pill you hate the taste of the least.
Unacceptable.
I will be dropping Asurion immediately, and never returning to a UbreakiFix again, and I encourage you fellow consumers to consider doing the same - at least until they correct their business practices.
I want to note that despite this awful experience, the employees that worked at this location were professional, sympathetic, and understanding...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCracked my Google Pixel 6 Pro within 24 hrs of owning it and was appalled when I was told it would be $280 to repair here. I called every place I could find and sure enough, uBreakiFix was the least offensive price, so I cringed and booked an appointment. Plus, they were the only ones that had my screen already in stock and the other places needed me to come in, pay a deposit, and then they'd order my screen. I made a same-day appointment no problem at uBreakiFix.
The staff there was friendly and sympathetic to my absurdly expensive screen repair (blame Google, not uBreakiFix), even going the extra mile in assisting me on a call to insurance to see if the repair could be covered. The insurance was a no-go, but I was happy enough to pay out of pocket just to get my phone working. I left my phone with them and was told 2hrs, but it was ready about an hour later! They didn't mind when I needed a couple of hours to come get it, which I appreciated. Went to pick up my phone after work and it was as good as new. I happen to have a fragile phone (would not recommend the Pixel 6 Pro) but the next time this stupid phone breaks I know exactly where to go.
Also worth mentioning: I was there quite a while dealing with insurance and would like to compliment the staff on how courteous they were to the senior citizens bringing in their devices. They never pushed extra services and were very respectful to everyone that came in. In an area of expertise that can easily take advantage of those that don't speak technology, it's nice to see the good guys out there. A friendly millennial gives this place...

I brought my computer to my local ubrealifix (in Central MA) on Feb 8th for an eval and tune up.
On Feb 20th (my first follow up call), I learned that it would be the same price to fix my computer as it would be to replace it. š«¤
They haven't initiated a follow up since.
On March 9th (ONE MONTH without a computer later!) I reached out to my local shop.
They had no information of substance, and referred me to 'the Depot' in CT.
The Depot is open banker's hours, so I left a voicemail, which was returned today, March 11th.
Apparently, the first replacement computer they sourced was cancelled before it shipped (but they didn't tell me), and a second one has been ordered. Earliest ESTIMATED delivery for that would be March 18th, and the earliest it could be to my local shop is March 22nd. Keep in mind -- that's ESTIMATED.
I asked what service they could provide if I picked up my own computer. Unfortunately, they don't staff the local shops to do even the smallest tech jobs like swapping a hard drive. So if have to manage getting a computer to the depot.
The person I talked to today agreed to remove the hard drive from my current computer, return it to me two-day mail.
I was refunded the PRE-paid swap and replace fee. However, the eval fee is non-refundable - even when they mess up.
The person I spoke with on the phone today was pleasant, so I'm giving a second...
