KZ Kitchen Cabinet & Stone, Inc. — Attraction in Milpitas

It was a very negative experience working with KZ renovating several rooms of our home. We learned KZ doesn't directly install anything; their business model is buying huge one-time-only lots of Chinese made renovation materials (tile, flooring, etc.) and vast quantities of cheap Chinese fixtures, cabinets then selling all that through their showrooms and then selling the installation contract to a mixed bag of mostly Chinese-owned local renovation contract companies. A big problem is KZ quotes the install job to you a such low assumed labor cost that the subcontractor they sell the job to gets squeezed and can only make a tiny profit by doing really fast, sloppy install work renovating your home - and by subcontractors hiring low-cost, inexperienced workers who do sloppy work. We are talking leaky pipes, cabinets installed crooked, bathroom tiles that don't line up correctly, Chinese-made fixtures that fall apart and you cannot buy replacement parts for etc. After the job in our home was only 75% done, the work was so shoddy we realized it was smarter to pay them in full at that point and kick them out of our home so we could sooner begin the long, expensive process of our finding and hiring a reputable contractor (not associated with KZ) to come in and fix all the screwed up installation work. On the positive side, some of KZ's subcontractors end up agreeing to KZ labor rate quotes that can be HALF that charged by most South Bay home renovation contractors. So if you bought a run-down Bay Area home and you want to surface-renovate it and flip it without ever personally living in it (and you lack a moral conscience ) you might consider using the low cost KZ Chinese-made materials / appliances / fixtures and go with their low-labor cost subcontractor to install it all knowing it will probably look ok to prospective home buyers on a quick walk-thru. Another plus is speed, KZ materials are usually in-stock, and KZ fast sloppy subcontractors can start quickly and then do a job in 4 wks that would take a more typical Bay Area contractor say 3...

DONT BUY HERE, RIP-OFF!

COUNTER TOP AND CABINET QUALITY IS POOR, AND THEIR COUNTERTOP INSTALLERS ARE TERRIBLE!

We remodeled our entire kitchen. The sales team sells you the cabinets and countertops that you see in their showroom. BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU GET! Instead of nice mitered edge countertops, you get unfinished edges, stains, cracks, and poor quality. They broke our large countertop around the sink, on two sides, and tried to fill the cracks with putty. Never said a thing. Cabinet doors have large gaps, and you can see the shelves inside. One door was cracked. We needed to call KZ constantly and follow up to get them back out.

TOTAL BAIT-AND-SWITCH. Counter edges were double stacked, and they blamed it on the natural product. Nothing in their showroom is natural product finished like ours? No one in sales says anything about it? Their showroom countertops and cabinets misrepresented our purchase?

ERIK THE KZ CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER OFFERED ME A $1,000 MATERIAL REFUND AND SAID I NEEDED TO TALK WITH THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR A LABOR REFUND. WE PAID OVER $8,200 FOR THE COUNTERTOPS AND INSTALL?

WHOM EVER KZ USES TO DO THEIR INSTALLATIONS IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY!

ALL this stalled our remodel for 4 weeks. Now, we must find new countertops, a new installer, and demo the cheap scam countertops.

DON'T DO WHAT WE DID!

Pick a good local cabinet and counter contractor. Go to a marble, quartz, granite outlet, and pick your own slabs. Get it done, right? Mitered edges. It will save you a ton of money and...
