Monterrey Market — Attraction in Milwaukee

At first I did not want to go in because I still miss Toy R US. haha But I got over it and I wanted to try the new Mexican grocery store in the area! We need more ethnic grocery stores in the city. And Monterry Market does a nice job of having enough of the staple Mexican products you need if you went grocery shopping for Mexican groceries. However, you can tell that Monterrey Market is still learning its way. The building feels too big for the store. I suggest maybe doing like its competitors in the city and dedicating a portion of the building to an in house restaurant. It would both eat up some space to make the grocery store feel more cozy and at the same time attract restaurant customers! They also need to paint the walls or decorate them to help lessen the warehouse feel. The pan dulce is ok. It could be better. But if you are coming from the southern suburbs on south 27th and don't want to go deep into the city, Monterrey Market fills the need. Good tortillas selections, queso, tostadas, frijoles, carne, etc... If they keep their prices competitve, I can see them...

Very unwelcoming from the moment you enter. Cold. Dimly lit. Big open space with nothing taking in your attention. Produce was expensive. Jalapeños had those moisture indentations. Up and down the ailes was sticker shock. Very high prices. On an end cap were some Fritios. Like a 2 oz package for 3.89? Deli was small. Bakery dry or old...or both. Left with a 2 liter of diet coke lol. Someone told me they had a place on 13th and Oklahoma? Hasn't that been closed for a long time. Very bad and horrible experience here. The manager/supervisor, or whoever was in charge that day mistaken my friend for somebody else that was there and was very very rude and negative towards him. It was our first time going to this store and the worker ruined it for us. He was accusing us of something that we have nothing to do with or even know about. I think whoever is the owner or Main person or people in charge need to have a serious chat with their employees/supervisor gentleman. I'm being very generous by even giving...
