New China Buffet — Restaurant in Milwaukee

Reminded me of days gone by, here howeverandoverseas, presentation could have been better. Went in, you could see people enjoying themselves. I had to stand at checkin for a long time while the gentleman behind there was checking something on his phone with another employee. It was truly an abnormal amount of time! Should have left but a friend suggested we go there. It was apparent that they treat everyone this way. There was no "sorry for the wait" just a point to the price on the screen $37. 34 and a point to where your card would go. Looked for place to sit. There was someone constantly going around keeping everything neat and clean 👌. There were families and singles moving about getting their food choices. There was another staff person who stood by kitchen area whose job was to take food as prepared to refill areas in need, they were very busy! It was a machine in operation likeIhavenotseenbefore. The place has another side to it where people were eating, so there was a constant flow of traffic to the buffet. There were no odd smells and I have to say the food was tasty 😋. I had swai fish, shrimp fried rice, green beans, fried chicken, broccoli and chicken, my wife had green beans, broccoli and chicken, orange chicken and we both had crab Rangoon. She went back for seconds. There was just so much to choose from!!! From pizza to dessert American to Asian. A constant turnover of food and people! Had trouble getting a cone of ice cream at the end, asked for more and the reaction to fix the problem. I might add one healthy construction worker left with a large Styrofoam "glass " of vanilla. Holy Hell is this place bad. I sat there and watch my friend eat because I was so turned off there's no way I was going to even have a piece of fruit. Their ventilation system must not work at all because the entire restaurant as steamy, damp, petri dish for mold. The walls the booth the everything is wore out and dirty. I'll try to explain this the best I can. I guess you had to be there to see it, but the chinese lady working the front cash register had a bucket of soap water or bleach water to clean surfaces off with. She kept ringing out the towels and wiping something and wringing out the towels and wiping something using that same bucket of water for at least 45 mins i was there. From that same bucket of water she took two rags,, she ringed them out half barely, and put one rag on the underside and one rag on the top side of the glass above the buffet food. As she wiped the glass off top and bottom with the same rags she spent cleaning with all day I could see the water and soap run from out of the rags and drip into the pans of food. Like I said there's no ventilation so she had to wipe the glass off top and bottom for anyone to see through it to observe the food choices because it was all covered with condensation. So I hope everybody that was eating there that night enjoyed the bleach water that dribbled into everyone's food choices. As you're walking back to your table there's bins of dirty plates and left over food right at eye level at every entryway to the table area. Went there last night I tried to eat multiple different things every time the food was cold or just barely warm. The egg rolls cold. Crab Ragoon cold. French fries cold. Chicken barely warm. Then I figured I would just eat some white rice with gravy you can't mess that up to bad right? Wrong. The rice was a mushy over cooked clump. I threw everything out it was a waste of my time and money. My bf was equally disgusted with everything he put on his plate. 2 of the sodas were out. Then to top it off my daughter went to get some fruit and found a thick black hair on her oranges. That was the last straw. I asked to speak with the manager. Told him everything that happened and he tried to tell me everything was hot and pointed and said look at the steam lol...then offered to make me everything I wanted fresh...but wait isn't everything that's out supposed to be fresh ready for the customer to eat isn't that the point of a buffet??? If I wanted to order my food sit down and wait for it I would not come to a buffet. Now I am not saying that I expected much from this place going in like I know the food is no top notch food OK but I at the very least expect it to be hot...edible and hairless. Don't eat here unless you want to leave hungry like...
