I got married here. The Pavillion grilles are huge. Perfect for the social grilling event. The website said you cannot get married here. With links to other city parks with wedding reservations and much higher costs. Well, the truth is that you can arguably get married anywhere, on public land. We got married here, had our ceremony and a picnic. Had some official drama occurred, I would have deferred to my free speech and right to assembly not to mention of freedom of religion... so what do you want to know about Boom Island Park? Some of the most amazing City skyline views with the Mississippi River in the foreground. It has a small Footbridge that grants you access do the northern tip of Nicollet Island. It's screamingly obvious but nobody knows this. This is important on a busy Friday night because it's easy to park near here and then walk up to all the clubs bars and amazing eateries that make up East Main Street. The park features a boat dock, which makes it a popular launching point for boating and kayaking. Watching boats glide by on the river was a peaceful way to spend the afternoon, and the gentle sounds of the water added to the serene atmosphere.
For those who prefer staying on land, the walking and biking trails are excellent for getting some exercise while enjoying the scenery. I took a leisurely walk along the trails and found several quiet spots perfect for sitting and enjoying the view, or even cracking open a book.
One of the highlights of my visit was the picnic area, where I enjoyed a relaxed meal with a view. The picnic facilities are well-maintained, making it easy to spend several hours at the park without needing to leave for food or other necessities.
