I am sitting in the In the Loop Coffee Co. for my very first time. Imagine my surprise at all the dogs! All the LOVED dogs! Not only does the staff here know most of the incoming customers by name, but they know the DOGS' names! I am just going to HAVE to bring Ingie here some time. As a Grand Marais Resident, having lived in the Brainerd Lakes for 30+ years, but growing up in the Twin Cities, I have to say, I get to say ~ This is one FINE establishment! The coffee is wonderful (of course). My croissant is delicious (of course). But the real ingredient is the compassion, kindness, fun(!) atmosphere here. It makes me wish that I were a "regular." I can see where this is not only a place to hang out, but a place in which to hang your heart. Strong, confident, loving people who are simply happy to see each other! Again, I live in a terrific community where love also abounds. So no deficiency in my life. But I feel that I have found a magical place. Recommended by my Life Friend, Paul, with whom I am staying for a couple of days. He lives just down the road. The workers here are those "make your day" people. Sincerely. As a teacher for many years, I know that it is not always "how you feel inside," but the choice to share joy! They do. It is beautiful. I will be back. And if I'm smart, they will get to meet Inga, and she will get to meet them! Thank-you for a memorable and perfectly sweet time, In the Loop Coffee Company! You are a delight! With Gratitude, Scott from Grand Marais :)

Read moreUpdate: I'm done with the owner's blatant disregard for Minneapolis law - dogs are not allowed indoors in establishments that serve food... period! If you want to blatantly disregard the law, that's your choice. If I want to take my business elsewhere, that's the consequences of your choice. Don't pretend that you're following the law when you have made dogs your entire business plan - with photos all over the walls, and treats on the counter to reward customers for bringing their dogs indoors where they are not permitted by law... even worse, the customers who let their dogs off leash, or bring in beds that take up the entire seating area. Dogs are not children and you do not need to take them everywhere you go, leave them outside when you're in a business that serves food. I'm not going to reward bad behavior with repeat business.
Original: I have been coming here for a year and a half now, and the crew are familiar faces. The food menu has weekly specials and they’re always tasty, and I actually made it from my desk to the coffee shop and back in 10 minutes today, which was a lifesaver on a busy day with a packed calendar. I’ve never been served so quickly and my white bean chicken chili was packaged nicely and made it to my...

Missing a star from inconsistency. I’ve ordered the lemon blueberry scone twice. The first time, such bright and lovely lemon flavors! The second, barely any lemon and kind of bland. I’ve ordered a vanilla latte three times. Twice, very lovely, some of the best coffee I’ve had in Minneapolis so far. The third time it was way over sweet. I took it home and cut it with plain coffee.
They are super dog-friendly, which I appreciate. A fresh dog bowl of water at the entrance, pup pictures everywhere, allow dogs in the store. Awesome. The $1 puppuccino was unique with some sort of peanut-butter (?) frozen milk (?) with whip cream on top. Lasted way longer than just a cup of whipped cream.
Each time I’ve seen folks working on their laptops there. They have a printer with some sort of cloud service where you can print documents, which is super handy.
Great location off of the busier part of town and by the...
