This was my first apartment and I had high hopes. Move in was rocky with only one trip with a moving cart allowed and only 30 mins of garage time allotted for residents on move-in day (and in the rain? Are we serious?). It only got worse from there
About a month into my lease, another tenant was moved into my roommate and I’s apartment with no notice until the day before he was set to move in. This created an array of problems that took my roommate and I the whole weekend to adjust for. I myself was never even notified as I “didn’t opt in to receive emails” which is another issue that, after I did opt in, never even received emails from management anyways. Very frustrating.
Soon after, the window in my apartment was found to have a broken latch. After submitting several maintenance requests, the window STILL was never fixed, even upon moving out. All I was told during the entirety of the situation was it was a “vendor issue”.
Soon after that, my dishwasher flooded into my room and it took almost 3 weeks to get repaired, once again due to “vendor issues”. Most of the items I would find out through my roommates that a repair guy was coming only for no one to show up.
If you are expecting decent pricing on utilities: don’t. The first couple months are pretty normal, but they will blare you like crazy with no clear answer as to why expenses are what they are. I was told by several different staff members pricing was per unit, while others said it was a building rate. Very unclear and unprofessional with many “back charges” increasing rent by almost an additional $100 a month.
Management is disorganized and pretty unhelpful, generally sighting problems that occur as “not their issue” but continuing to be u clear on charges on utilities, unable to even give a direct answer as to how your utilities are charged (unit rate or housing rate?). I also was supposed to be given a gift card for rent to bring my cost down, while they charged it so heavily per month in fees that it didn’t even make sense to use it for rent after a while. When I asked why my rate wasn’t just simply reduced like other apartments in the area running similar promotions, they told me “because we can’t change market rates” (which is bogus as they set their own prices anyways).
All in all, my apartment was fine, but for a two year old building, it is littered with issues that pop up regularly and go unresolved for long stretches causing much stress and discomfort to you as the renter. I wanted to have a strong first relationship with my building, being a first time renter in college, but I could not encourage anyone looking to rent here more to avoid this building at all costs. Live literally anywhere else. It’s not worth the expense and hassle I’ve experienced over the past year.
Desk workers are very unhelpful, undertrained, unable to help pretty much ever, and some even very difficult to work with, especially during move-in and move-out. If you enjoy being charged ludicrous rates without explanation and no real care given to you as the renter, then Fieldhouse is...
Read moreUpdate on 6/7/25: I was really hoping that they would improve, and they have sorely lacked. They acknowledged the misconduct of their residents and changed the club room hours, making the room close at 10. Sure, a good start. Somehow, though, that didn't stop hundreds of people that didn't live in the building from coming in, wandering the halls, smoking weed, and partying in the clubroom (which, I walked by, whoever was hosting was CHARGING people for. outrageous on its own). I tried to find the security they allege having, and even tried calling their on call number (which they also advertise for after hours lockouts, though I've never had that happen to me). It directed me to leave a voicemail for business hours. Luckily, this party didn't end in violence like those in the past, and I was informed that multiple residents had called the police about it, who showed up and cleared the room. Truly sad that the police had to be called as a last resort, that multiple residents didn't feel safe in their own homes, and had to call the cops. Rules mean nothing if you don't enforce them, and honestly, though the building has constantly called out their residents misconduct in emails, they should start acknowledging their role in allowing these things to happen. As someone who has lived here since the building opened, I am truly ashamed, and have decided to move out a month and a half before my lease ends, eating the cost just so I no longer have to live here.
So many of these five star reviews are from people that have just taken tours, not lived here, and it shows. I can't express how much I've disliked living here, and how excited I am to leave come this summer. The amenities are nice, but that's about it. Management is so hard to get ahold of in a meaningful way. I've called during business hours and gotten no answer, emailed and gotten no answer, and when I've asked stuff right at the desk they'll promise me things and never deliver on them. People throw parties in the club room that have more than once garnered police presence, and sometimes the smell of weed in the hallways is so strong that it goes into my apartment. And don't get me started on the trash room, often times my floors trash room is, well, trashed. People throw whatever they want into the bin designated for cardboard, and I even walked in once to see the floor was covered in trash bags, you couldn't even walk in. There have been nights where I genuinely don't feel safe leaving my apartment because people are going crazy in the club room or doing random stuff in the halls. Once I tried to use the vending machine in the club room during a party going on, and who I assume was the organizer of the party was so suspicious of my presence (in what is supposed to be a community space, no less), that he followed me back to my apartment and wouldn't leave me alone until I shut the door in his face. They clearly don't take safety seriously here,...
Read moreREVIEW UPDATE: I have been unfortunate enough to now be on my third year living here, due to working full-time (‘23 graduate) and being from out of state. For starters, management seems very disorganized and tends to respond slowly. For instance, both times I renewed, somehow things on their end fell through the cracks on something, which was only resolved by my incessant follow-up. On other occasions, I have had erroneous charges placed in my account, which were only caught because I looked carefully at my bill. If you have an issue with anything, good luck. In my first year, a nearby unit constantly blared music in the late hours of the night during the week, and despite pinpointing the unit with video and time-stamped proof of the complaint (at their request), the issue was never resolved. On two separate occasions, I have also had issues regarding minor vandalism to my car parked in the expensive garage that they “weren’t able to help with.” Then last August, the ONLY garage door to the first-floor garage got backed into and damaged, which they knew about by 11 pm that night (because they sent an email). The next morning, when I tried to go to work at 8 am, I had to wait an hour for someone from management to show up to say they were just then calling the company to fix it, which wasn’t done until noon that day. If I don’t work, I don’t get paid, so I lost half a day’s pay due to being unable to use my car. Additionally, safety is more of a facade than anything. Even though you need a key fob to go anywhere, and they changed the door lock hours, people are also piggybacking off of people into the building. HUGE parties in the community areas are common (with mostly nonresidents). Police have been called to the building numerous times after hours for issues. One of which was after the security guard had his face bashed in (haven’t seen him back since and I don’t blame him). While the amenities are nice, the weights in the gym are nearly always a mess, and half the treadmills are broken more often than they’re working. The pool is nice when you can find a spot and aren’t disturbed by other disrespectful residents. The disrespect continues towards the property, too, with the trash rooms a disaster and the hallways a mess. Most of the 5-star reviews on here are from people who just toured or management themselves, and it shows. Save yourself a lot of frustration and money by...
