This low-key but comfortable eatery knocked our socks off with a rainbow of flavors. The nondescript entrance, kind of like entering a strip mall establishment, leads you to order at a counter. The menu is simple, divided between sandwiches, wraps, salads, and bowls. Essentially, you pick one of those items and then pick your favorite protein to go with it. (There are vegan options as well.) There is a nice selection of appetizers and sides to accompany your dinner. The dining room is plain but comfortable. We chose the pork and beef combo, the chicken, and ordered pork in our spring rolls. Service is friendly, but slow. We were the only people in the restaurant, and it took approximately 15 - 20 minutes to get a sandwich, a rice bowl, and an appetizer. Oh slow service notwithstanding, the portion sizes were generous and the flavors were robust. Definitely worth the wait. I’ve honestly never had a more flavorful spring roll. All of the ingredients were exceptionally fresh, and the fried pork strips inside burst with flavor. My pork and beef rice bowl was essentially a mound of banh mi ingredients, layered over rice. Mouthwateringly good. The pork wrap was also excellent. (They are very generous with the cilantro, so if you’re not a fan, make sure you let them know to leave it out.) The pricing is also very reasonable. Combine the great value with great food and friendly service and you have a five-star establishment. We will definitely be bringing friends and family back here for more.

We stopped in for quick dinner after a long day of appointments. This turned out to be the PERFECT place to grab a bite to eat. The food is great, the service is excellent and the decor makes the place so so comfortable to just let the day go and enjoy the food. We both had the chicken lemongrass sandwich and two pork egg rolls. My husband also had fries and a soda. Everything was excellent. The egg rolls were hot and crisp. The sandwiches had the perfect amount of cucumber, jalapeno, green onion, pickled carrots and daikon and my husband said his fries were great. Accessibility: the tables are narrow so if you're in a wheelchair you can't pull all the way up to the table. I have a narrow rigid chair and even mine didn't fit between the table legs. At the large 8 person table, the underside of the table is solid and flared and wheelchair footplates prevent pulling up. I do highly recommend checking this place out. I hope they add an accessible table or two. I'll definitely be back!

Edit: Thank you for responding. I was checking out other reviews and they are almost all really great so I'm assuming this is a fluke. Added a star for the customer service here because that is RARE. I am so disappointed. I spent $70 on some sandwiches, fries, wontons, and spring rolls. The bread is so hard it's inedible, the fries and wontons are so over fried they are also inedible, and the spring rolls are literally ripped open. Like, not sure how to eat that. I asked for extra peanut sauce and did not get it. The place is closed now and door dash isn't responding. Will never order from here again. Mi-Sant is FAR superior.

I saw an Instagram video of a camera guy trying to give $1k to this restaurant because of how generous the owner was to help out by donating some sandwiches and feeding the homeless then I saw the reviews and it's a 4.9 stars, that's crazy good ratings so I had to try these banh mi sandwiches. I got a grilled pork banh mi combo (with seasoned fries and a drink) and my boyfriend got a grilled pork and beef banh mi combo. I am so used to eating a banh mi by itself that I never thought having fries with them would do it justice but boy was I wrong the fries were by far one of the best I've had, it's well-seasoned and crispy.

Great quick stop for Vietnamese food near U of M. I got the Mock Duck Curry sandwich, which is 100% vegan as-is, and SO good!! The flavors were great and the texture of the mock duck was also very good. You can make a meal a combo for $2 with fries and a drink which is nice. The entire meal was $11 and ended up being two meals for me. Sandwich was a great size, and everything was super fresh. The employees were very kind and helpful in picking out menu items. Their tofu bahn mi is also vegan sans mayo. French fries are also top notch, they are crispy.

So happy that this place reopened, this is in my opinion the best place to grab banh mi around campus. On my recent visit I tried the tofu banh mi—the bread is excellent, super delicious and crunchy. The pickled veggies were also great, though the tofu seemed a little bland. I think on my next visit I’ll try the mock duck one. But to be honest the real highlight here are the French fries. Good lord these have to be some of the best fries ever and the sauce they come with (mayo and sriracha?) is addictive. Will definitely be stopping back soon!
