I had a very upsetting experience at Michael’s with a manager named Nicole. From the moment I asked a simple question about a discounted photo book, I felt disrespected. Instead of coming over to help as I politely requested, she expected me to shout the question across the store — which already felt dismissive.
Later, I asked another question about white-tipped pens. I’ve never used one before, so I asked a genuine question: “Will this write white or come out more gray on paper?” Nicole responded with unnecessary attitude, saying, “It’s white,” in a very condescending tone. I was shocked — it was such a rude response to an honest question. I even said, “Oh, my bad for asking,” because the energy was just so negative and uncomfortable. It felt tense, cold, and unwelcoming.
Then, when I asked if I could take the pen up to the register to pay, she looked me up and down and said, “No, I have to take it there,” as if I was going to steal it. I came in with a friendly and respectful attitude, so I don’t understand why I was treated this way. Whether it was because of how I look, my skin tone, or if she’s just always rude — the whole experience left me feeling judged and disrespected.
Michael’s is usually a great place to shop, but this experience really shook my confidence in the staff. I hope management looks into this and ensures customers are treated with basic courtesy and professionalism. No one should leave a store feeling like they were looked down on...
Read moreA visit to Michael's is not for the faint of heart or those in a hurry. The store is filled with many wondrous things but there's little to no signage to help you locate what you're looking for. If you do have time to explore, not a problem; if not, very frustrating, particularly if you can't find a store associate to help you. Then if you do manage to locate what you're looking for, unless it's part of the latest crafting fad, it's probably located on a shelf or peg that makes it inaccessible without a step stool or store associate. Michael's this really cuts into any impulse buys; if I can't reach it, I won't buy it. While I love using your coupons, they do tend to bog down the checkout process. You end up waiting for the customer in front of you to pull up the coupon on their phone. Will I go back? Probably, maybe when the store's not busy and I can have the exclusive help of a clerk who can reach those Martha Stewart Stencils that are a good two feet...
