I’ve belonged to La Fitness since 2015 and have never been disrespected the way I was last week. I pay to have guest privileges. I’ve always brought my daughter, boy friend, and friends with me on numerous occasions. However last week was disgusting. An employee walked up to my guest and I and ask was I training her. I said no and she then said that training someone inside the gym was against the rules. I replied thank you I understand, you have a good day. She then told me she could kick me out the gym for breaking the rules. I asked her what her problem was. I had told the lady I was not training, I have guest privileges, and I was helping my guest as she has never worked out in a real gym before. I asked her to leave me alone. She walked off and brought another employee who said she was the manager and that she needed to speak to me. I told her I didn’t have anything to say to her, I’m not breaking any rules, and that they were making me uncomfortable. I explained we’re in a pandemic and I was trying to introduce my friend to a way I relieve stress and tension. She said if I did not speak to her then I had to get out. I asked could we speak after the workout and she said no. I told her I was not leaving as I pay my dues monthly and she told me she was going to call the police on my guest and I if I did not leave. I again said that I was not breaking any rules and they were abusing their power and as women sometimes you go to far with other women when it’s not that serious. I told her I’d been going to that gym well before those 2 women were hired and that what they were doing was wrong. She was actually yelling at me and the entire club was looking in our direction. NO EXAGGERATION!! I was completely humiliated and I haven’t been back since. I’m going to go back to get their names. This NEVER should have played out like this and it took 2 men to tell those ladies to calm down and that I was doing nothing wrong. And no offense but the two ladies were completely out of shape, the manager was definitely overweight and they walked around the club as sheriffs instead employees. I had a trainer there for a year. He always encouraged members and would help them with how to use something even if you didn’t pay for the LA fitness training package as I did. Those ladies really were nasty and it makes me never want to go back there and enjoy what I love doing. I felt attacked and as a black women, I felt one of the most safest place for me is the gym. Now I don’t even feel comfortable there because they just might call the police on me all for showing a friend how to use a machine. F2182818 Also the machines are out of date, rusty, and I’ve never been there and able to use all my ideal machines because something is always broken. On another note they do provide plenty cleaning supplies for cleaning...

I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for years and visited 24 Hour Fitness a few times. Because I moved to house which's very close to LA Fitness couple years back, I ended up joining this club.
The decision to join LA Fitness ended up being a very poor decision. If Google allows something like "extremely poor", I would've picked that. Here are reasons why:
For $30/mon. Fitness Connection which is 2 minutes down Hwy 6 and brand new is a better option for $10/mon. no contract.
The lock room (Men's) is the worst smelling locker room in all of fitness clubs I have been to. (So far, Lifetime Fitness, 24 Hour, Sugar Land Recreational Center, etc) To put it in perspective, I had to hold my breathe when I change and if I don't, it feels like 100 guys bare feet who haven't showered for weeks. I told the management about the problem, and they spend (self-claimed) $1 million on replacing their equipment but never done anything about the locker condition.
The staff is incompetent and will not take responsibility. When I signed up 2 years ago for 3 members in my family with one-time payment non-refundable (which I found out later, bad decision), the sales guy verbally promised me that I can bring some friends with me whenever they visit and he even gave me a lot of guest passes, but recently when my friends tried to use the guest passes, they even called cops for "trespassing". And the operations manager said the sales department has no say on who to admit and who not to admit...I thought they all work for LA Fitness? Maybe they should keep a tighter control on getting those people sneak into the basketball court all the time.
Basically, although I paid 3-year membership there, I barely go there once a month because of these negative experiences I have had in the past two years.
This review is only based on my personal experience and the final decision to join the club or not is yours. For me, I rather do p90x at home than to go to LA Fitness.
Hope this is helpful to whoever's looking at this...
Read moreI’m very disappointed with La Fitness and expected more from them especially after hearing positive things from others.
We came in to try out the 5 day pass and they insisted in signing us up for their membership and the current GM Wrendric said we had 7 days to cancel for a full refund. After seeing their really dirty locker rooms with hair all over the showers, I wasn’t sold. I wanted to come use their pool but when you have to change or shower in that environment, it’s just yuck. We also tried the other gym in SL and the individual machines don’t have TVs. Headphone jack for the machine my husband tried didn’t even work. I went back within the week to cancel with Wrendric in person. He said sorry to see us go and cancelled it OR so I thought! A week later, I still get an email from them and the charge hasn’t been refunded yet. I call them again to only be redirected to their new GM and learn that Wrendric is no longer with company. The new GM Saif says that we had to cancel within 3 days to get a full refund and that they are only able to cancel the monthly membership but not the initiation fee ($75) and the 2 months prepay, even though we were given incorrect information from the previous GM. I’m shocked that La Fitness as a corporation doesn’t allow their GM the ability to refund this OR he just isn’t willing to do it. Either way, I would be very wary about doing business with La Fitness.
My advice: don’t pay them anything until you are positively sure that their facilities are...
