Great park for photography and photo shoots in general. This place has a whole lot going for it. The park looks great, has a great view of the river, as well as some very nice places to sit and watch the water. You can really tell that the people maintaining the park care about their job, there's all sorts of little things in the landscaping that shows real care. I liked seeing all the people out and about the several times I was there. Lots of people were out enjoying the sun and walking the trail. That's just great! The city should be proud of this little gem along the water as it's a thing to be proud of.

Beautiful park we stumbled across while out road tripping through Michigan. Really enjoyed it. The bear and fountain was well done. The little covered bridge was cute. There was even people on the small beach playing in the river, and caught a couple people rubbing down it as well. Some crystal clear water that looked refreshing.

Nelson park when I was a kid had a bear, monkeys, deer, I don't know what all! When my son was little they still had animals. We had to stop there any time we were in town. And then...he got married there! It's a totally different place than it was 20 years ago but beautiful.

Nelson Park is one of the many parks connected to each other. It's offers relaxing trails that are wheel chair accessable. Anyone can explore the connected paths and there are signs warning of an active train. The park hours are 8am-11pm however it does open before then. No overnighter parking. There are park grills, places to picnic and trash receptors which keeps the park cleaned up. At Nelson Park you see people in strung hammocks reading a book. You will spot folks floating down the Chippewa river by tube. There is a business you can contact. There is at least one man made beach but there are other beach fronts in other parks. All children need supervision no lifeguard on duty.  You will find a water park if you stay on the trail to Island Park. Dogs are welcome on a leash and bags are recommend to bring for clean up. Since I mentioned the other parks each park has something to offer differ from another. I hope you will enjoy exploring the nature and trails that come from...

Nice park and good to walk through. Behind the train tracks is a huge playground and pavilions. Will definitely be going back. However, the one concerning this is th train tracks. Not sure if they are decommissioned or not. Parts look very old yet other parts look like they are still used. If they are still active there really should be some signs stating that. Becareful with little ones by the train bridge, there is no railing to help prevent falling or literally slipping through the tracks. But definitely and nice park, great for walks,...
