Bird Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

We've been there twice and pretty much ordered the same thing both times; a pizza, a bacon cheeseburger and moon bread. Everything was delicious, hence the reason we ordered the same thing a second time. However, I have two complaint. First both times we were there our waitor left and never came back. Meaning it was the end of their shift (I'm guessing, because the second one we saw carrying her purse) and they never came back to tell us they were not going to be waiting on us any longer. The first time, nobody came to wait on us after our food was brought to the table. We had to go to the bar to order another round of drinks, get our bill and boxes, and pay. I get it they are probably understaffed like everywhere but I'm always willing to wait longer for my items verse just plain bad service and being ignored. Not that anyone was unfriendly just that what I explained above seem pretty easy things to manage, even understaffed. Second complaint, more of just an annoyance, is that after a certain hour they turn the volume way up on the music. And it's not even that late. I'm not 100% sure what time; I'm guessing around 7pm. We went just before dinner rush (there were only people seated at 4 tables when we arrived) and just about every table was filled when we left. And just before we left it was turned up. I get that it's a bar but when your there for dinner and you have to yell to your companions to have a conversation it's annoying. I personally think another hour or so before they turn it into the club would be better, but that's just me. So, to wrap this up, we'll more than likely go back because the food is worth it and I'll go in with lower expectations for the wait staff and if it's better then I'll be pleasantly surprised and likely tip accordingly. But if you take anything away from my review, it should be this... Get the MOON bread....

If you are just visiting Mount Pleasant on business, are above the age of 30 and/or have kids with you then the bird is NOT the place for you. This is a college bar with more personality than most. The double sided bar is a nice touch and the service is generally better than most college bars. Prices are fair and there are cheap peanuts. Gets really crowded on weekends and some other nights. If you are looking for a place to let loose, meet some friends and engage in some college type festivities then this is your place.
