EDIT: In the end, it took nine months, but our watch repair issue is finally resolved. We never expected an out of warranty watch repair to be a quick process, but this could have been much better. After our initial Google review, management took charge of our case, sending shipping labels to get it back, and giving regular updates on the status of the repair. When it finally came back from the shop, they checked it over to ensure it was perfect before shipping it back to us. I wish the first six months had gone the way the last three have; if they had, this would be a five star review.
ORIGINAL (edited for length and clarity) In November we drove over three hours one way to drop off a Baume & Mercier watch for service and a dial replacement, because BC was the nearest authorized dealer. For six weeks, we heard nothing, and only when we called did they reach out to the manufacturer for information. Another six weeks went by before we called again, only when we called them did they admit that they had been sitting on an estimate from the manufacturer for the repairs for over a month but had never called us to get them app. So we paid the $1861 charge by phone, and waited another three months. Today we finally received the watch in the mail, and the dial was not replaced. (It’s obvious because some paint on the 7 had broken away, which is what prompted the repair in the first place.). Once again I called the store, and was told they would need to find my file and call back, but no one reached out until I left a...
Read moreI am confused by the previous excellent reviews. We went to get my watched sized recently and our experience since the first moment we walked in was terrible. We were barely greeted (an older woman in the back asked what we needed while a man stared us down at the front). It seemed like an act of congress to get it sized, she said it may take a day, two or sometime next week. She then proceeded to say “only when I call you will you know it’s ready”…well okay then. My husband called the next day for the status and he was informed the watch had been shipped off to get sized. Okay so we typically do all of our fine jewelry shopping at Bromberg’s and they do all this same day so we’re confused as to why it was “shipped”. What if two links isn’t enough? Would we need to do this all again for one more link maybe? Overall we were not impressed. My husband was looking to purchase a watch but he was not offered help at ALL while he was looking even though it was just us...
Read moreDisappointing. My fiancé and I looked at wedding bands here. I found a beautiful ring that I loved but kept shopping because, you know, you can’t buy the first ring you try on. After looking at a few other places while we were in Charleston, my decision was between two rings—the one at Barton Clay or one at an antique store in Charleston. We called Barton Clay to see if the ring could be resized or how long it would take to order the right size. The guy we spoke to said the jeweler was gone for the day but that he would ask the next day and call us at 10am. We never got the call we were waiting for (I was ready to buy that ring and told him that) so we bought the ring in Charleston. When we called the lady there, she remembered who we were and was delighted to help us. Thanks, Barton Clay, for making the...
