This place is SO GOOD! There are tons of great donuts out there and even more bad ones. And I’ve had them dozens of different ways. But NOBODY does them like this. Tiny, fluffy, delicate, full of flavor, little doughy rings of joy that you can dip in their absolutely killer sauces then inhale.
They fry them right in front of you, they spice them right in front of you, then they hand them to you and your tastebuds rejoice. It’s that simple.
These are special. This place is special. They care about the food and the experience and it shows. Quit reading this review and go put these donuts in your mouth.
But if you’re still unsure — and idk how you could be — then let me put it this way: if I could only chose one donut for the rest of my life... it would be these. And I’d cover them in the sauce. And I’d grab one of the flavored milks, strawberry is 🔥, and I’d live a happy life and die of a sugar coma.
If you’ve ever been to Pips Doughnuts in Portland, Oregon then you know how good these kind of donuts can be! And these are the only other mini donuts I’ve had that live up to Pips. And maybe even surpass it 👀. All they need now is some of that Candied Maple Bacon topping and id happily add a few more pounds to...
Read moreCan’t recall a time where I’ve ever been so disappointed by donuts. I’ve literally gone across the country trying new donut places, in search of the best one, so to say they’re a passion of mine is an understatement. Given that, I was elated to find out about a new one coming to Birmingham to pair with our small but amazing lineup of donut spots. Having tried them today, Sons Donuts is absolutely in the bottom tier (below Heavenly, Hero, even Donut Joes/Grateful) and more on par with YoYo. Giving them 3 stars because that’s about the floor for rating a donut place.
They’re served in packs of four, which is common for mini-donut places, but you can’t mix and match. Only one type of donut per pack, which literally goes against the reason they were invented. Maybe go here with a large group of people so you can actually try a variety. Overall the batter is more old school and ended up bring dry. Then the toppings didn’t cover the full donuts, which made the dryness more prevalent. Positives - Donuts were hot, vibe was great, employees were nice, but overall there’s not a lot to...
Read moreI saw some of their advertisements on Instagram and decided to try it out. This place is fantastic. The staff was super enthusiastic and knowledgeable of their product, which is always a good sign. They recommended me a few flavors and dipping sauces and they did not disappoint. The actual location is great. Small, but still a nice place to take your family for a treat. Now real mini donuts are not the same as your regular sized ones, so don't expect it to taste like krispy kreme. They are a little more dry, but thats what you want because they have amazing dipping sauces that were the big stars of the show. I got The Fisher and The Jude for mine and I highly recommend them. Also saw they were opened until 10 on weekends, so not a bad treat to grab if you're out having a good time in Avondale. I'll definitely be back with friends so I can brag about being the first one of...
