“Fine cuts & big vibes. Little Betty ain’t little when it comes to flavor. #spendsum #upscale #datenight #chefsen #bham #fyp

We celebrated our five year wedding anniversary at Little Betty Steak Bar in Mountain Brook, AL. I briefly mentioned to them that it was our wedding anniversary on the phone and did not think anything of it. However, they started our evening off with a complementary glass of French wine — such a thoughtful gesture! From there we had our waiter, who was so tentative and descriptive with the Plates and went over all the sections with us thoroughly. We decided to try something new and try the Hamachi Crudo that is under the small plate section. We’ve never had anything like it and it was so fresh and delicious. We moved on to ordering the Caesar salad, which was probably one of the best Caesar salads I’ve had, honestly since we’ve been to Italy. They had these cured lemon peels on the salad that made it unique for a Caesar salad, but it added this pop of citrus to the salad, which was refreshing. For our mains, I ordered the hand cut pappardelle, which was full of flavor and had a little bit of spice to it. The truffle was not overpowering, it complemented the sauce well. Bradley ordered the 8 ounce fillet with the side of the whipped potatoes — which let me add some of the best whipped potatoes I’ve had. For cocktails, after our complementary wine, B ordered the “Don’t Feed The Ducks”. A duck fat-wash Japanese whiskey old-fashioned and I had the La Sirena Di Sicilia, which is a cocktail made with their house made limoncello (if you know me you know I love limoncello🍋). It was so light and refreshing and then with our entrées we both had a glass of wine. B had the Cos, Cerasuolo Di Vittora Classico and I had a glass of the Domaib Le Bihan, Touraine Sauvignon. (I noticed from the other reviews, saying their pours were light on the wine, but our pours were just right for a glass of wine!) Of course we had to finish our evening off with their Tiramisu & a dessert cocktail to share, a Pistachio Espresso Martini. The tiramisu was delicious & the espresso martini was the best I’ve had! We love to take the quick hour trip up to Birmingham to enjoy unique places to dine and Little Betty will be a place we will definitely revisit! Everything was a 10/10. From the service, ambience, food & drinks were delicious. The only thing I would suggest for the restaurant is to change up the type of music they play. For the type of ambience, Italian style service, and overall dishes they are serving, I would recommend to play some type of jazz instrumental music instead of a mixture of 80s music to 2000s pop.

Little Betty is a must-try restaurant in Mtn. Brook, AL located just outside of Birmingham. My husband and I ate here for the first time during Mother's Day weekend. It lived up to the hype for me. First, the restaurant is gorgeous with its opulent wallpaper and open floor plan. The service was impeccable from the host staff, runners, bar staff, servers, and managers. I didn't meet any kitchen staff but you can see them working hard back there! Let me preface the food portion by acknowledging, that my husband is a vegetarian and this is a steak bar. Now that that is out of the way. This is even one of his new favorite restaurants in town. We started with cocktails. I had the When in Rome which is essentially a margarita with black sea salt and my husband had the La Sirena Di Sicilia which I think is a quintessential summer cocktail, fruity and light. We split an order of the Pugliese Burrata for our appetizer. It is a simple dish that highlights the freshness of the cheese. If you like burrata, you won't be disappointed. Next, we ordered our entrées. I had the 8 oz Filet med rare with the foie butter on the side. My steak was cooked perfectly. My husband had the Little Betty Salad and the Casarecca for his entree. He said, "That salad is one of the best I've had in the city. I don't know what they did to those tomatoes to make them so amazing." The statement made me wish I had tried the darn salad. He said the pasta was also quite tasty. Lastly, we split the Bananas Foster Cheesecake for dessert. This dessert is a SHOW STOPPER (yes, I am yelling out of pure excitement). The lightly spiced ice cream paired with the creamy cheesecake bar topped with brûleed banana was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. I had a hard time deciding whether I wanted an actual dessert or one of their dessert cocktails so about a week later, we took some friends by Little Betty to grab dessert after dinner out and I tried the Pistachio Espresso Martini this time. It was delish. The hubby got the cheesecake again and was still blown away.

Received a call beforehand confirming our reservation and reminding us of their upscale dress code and technology policy prohibiting continued use of phones, pads, watches, etc. We arrived dressed up, me a blazer and my wife a nice dress. Noticed I was the only one with a coat and actually saw three men wearing t-shirts. T-shirts! What? Folks all around continually used their devices. What? I guess their policy is just for show! Pretentiousness, what a bummer!

When the waitress asked about allergies, we told her one of us reacts negatively to MSG and Palm oil. She said their Caesar salad dressing had Palm oil, but they could sub Balsamic vinegar. What? On a Caesar? We requested just lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. She asked but the Chef said they had a reputation and could not divert from their menu recipes. This not only confirmed chain ownership with no local authority or autonomy, it signaled that at Little Betty, the customer is not always right. After ordering the Gouda fries, the waitress came back to say they might contain MSG. What? Their website says they only use the freshest ingredients, so why buy from a supplier who uses MSG? Right! We said we would pass on the Gouda fries, but on the bill their deduction was marked: “dissatisfied.” What?

We ordered a ribeye medium rare and a filet well done, but we had to argue with the waitress not to butterfly it…she literally read us their menu’s definition of well done…this is a high end joint? Not even close! By the way, the filet was overcooked and the ribeye was undercooked. No surprise there I guess.

A piece of carrot cake finished us off. Dry, no icing between layers, just icing piled on top of what looked like something that was baked in small single serving pan. Terrible!

So, for one drink, two salads, one side of Brussels sprouts, two steaks, and one piece of cake, our bill was $267…before tip! When we paid with a card, they even billed us for the credit card fee…like the DMV!!! What?

Overall, just a terrible, expensive, and very disappointing experience. Overhyped and overpriced! To make it worse, we both got sick. I’m sure I’ll be sick again when my credit card statement arrives. Absolutely a horrible experience! Don’t waste your time, or worse, your hard earned money, or you will regret it, and may even get sick,...

Where do I begin, everything from the greet to the farewell was nothing less than perfect. We came in to celebrate my friend's birthday and were not disappointed. Mateo and his bar staff wowed our entire table with beautiful drinks that were not just tasty but so elegant and thought out. The smoke em if you got em had our table in awe and the beautiful way it was presented was absolutely just stunning. And the wine presentation from the "wine dork" Johnny was out of this world. His presentation and his detailed knowledge of the wine we were getting were nothing short of pristine.

A part that stood out was Chef Britton coming to the table and telling our birthday girl happy birthday. It made her feel special and important, like she was family instead of just another customer.

The food was perfect from the chicken to the steak. Flavor combinations were out of this world and the steaks were cooked to perfection. We ordered three sides for our table of four and still had enough to take home. The birthday girl ordered the tiramisu and she was literally dancing because it was so good.

Now for the service. We had Ashley and we can not rave about her more. Words can't express how much we appreciated her making this night so special and for listening and carefully executing every part of our evening. That being said I also want to shout out the rest of the staff too. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left ALL OF THEM were spectacular. They were genuine, caring, and most importantly attentive. They all together made this evening one of the best we've had out in a long time.

This place is worth every red cent you spend. The quality, execution, and attention to detail are above and beyond any expectations you walk in their front door with.

This is for sure a 10/10 and we would recommend little bettys for any and all occasions from a simple dinner to a celebration.

Thank you again little betty for showing us such a good time. The memories we got tonight will live with us forever and that means more than...
