UWM Men's Shop — Attraction in Murray

Let me tell you a story! One of the things you learn when you have a child with a physical disability is that finding clothes that fit your child, or that are made for your child, are very difficult to find. Therefore your child wears the best you can find! Sometimes that means the clothes are way to big or sometimes that means wearing sweat pants to church because normal church suit pants don’t fit well! It’s a frustrating conundrum that parents with a disabled child share! This is/was my lot in life! A few months ago, in October, I had the feeling to go, with my son Carter, who has SMA type 2, to go to downtown Salt Lake City and walk around Temple Square as he was putting his papers to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! We walked for a while, had a great time, then decided to leave and come home! But across from Temple Square, near the entrance to the parking garage, is a clothing store called UWM Men’s Shop (formerly Utah Woolen Mills)! I had passed by this shop many times when downtown and this time had a feeling to go in! I was greeted by BJ Stringham, the son of the owner! I introduced us and said I had a question for him! I asked if there is anything that can be done or if he had any ideas on what may be done to make a suit that a disabled person could use as Carter, because of his disability could not get a suit coat on or suit pants on! He asked some questions and we thought it would be cool if we could use something like Velcro to piece a suit coat together! He left for a minute to talk with his tailor, Anwar, then came back with an idea! He came back and said that they would put Velcro on the back seam and piece the two sides of the jacket together joining them in the back so that it would be easy to put it on Carter! I said that would be great but something like that, especially something that custom, would be out of our budget and there was no way I could afford that.. I was just trying to get an idea of what could be done to a suit to make it work! BJ responded that it would be their privilege to provide a suit, at no cost to us, as a gift for Carter to help him on his mission and that they like to do things like this to help those in need like Carter! They have a program called Suited for Good! When BJ told me of what they would like to do I was touched and overcome with emotion! What a great gift they had given to me! They were an answer to my prayers! And I get emotional when someone treats me or my family, especially Carter, with such kindness and thoughtfulness! The called us a few weeks later and had us come and try on the suit they had custom made for Carter! It’s the first time they had ever made a suit like that- a prototype! Here are some photos! Recently my Grandfather passed away and Ive never been much of a guy that has his "Sunday best" just lying around the house.. I don't have any for that matter and Ive never owned a suit in my life, Let alone know how to shop for one or afford one. I knew I wanted to look my absolute best for my Grandfathers send off from this world, But I didn't know what to do, With my current work schedule I had no time to get these things in order but Ive known about UWM Mens Shop for a while and knew they'd have the best suits in the game and that they were some of the best guys out there. I called them up last minute (day of the viewing) because it was my only day off and figured on a whim these guys might have a suit I could rent for the weekend. once I called and Brandon answered the phone, I told him my situation crossing my fingers they might rent me a suit that would fit me and look right, to my surprise he asked me to come in and that they'd see what they can do to get me taken care of. I was THRILLED! These guys are top notch and I was so relieved they were willing to let me come in and see what I could rent. As soon as I showed up Brandon took me to the fitting room where he'd already picked out the perfect suit for me! mind you with little information given on my part .. I don't know suit sizes and measurements, but I put that suit jacket on and damn near cried looking in those's mirrors and seeing this suit on me. It came time to (what I thought) possibly negotiate a price for the rental or determine when I should return it, but he turned to me and gave me their condolences about my situation and said they wanted to donate the suit to me so I could pay my respects to my Grandfather in my very own new suit looking my absolute best for him. I didn't know what to say.. I was nervous and shaking but thanked him graciously and left there feeling absolute gratitude that people like this still exist in this world. From the seamstress that fitted my pants and suit to the guys on the floor like Brandon that were so willing to help me I feel overwhelmed with gratitude and hope to some day return to purchase my dream suit and pay it back knowing Id have the best guys in the game...

The Best Choice For Suits and Amazing Customer Service

Not gonna lie, these guys have become like brothers-watching out for me and having my back! How does one become so cool with someone in such a short time? Idek, but we have!!! 😉

From the first step into the building to the last step out...even now as we continue to communicate through texting... we were and continue to be treated like royalty!!

•••We are from Houston, TX. We had a last minute situation (a situation that will stay between my homies Ryan, Cody, Statton and I 🤫 LOL) from the moment I informed Ryan of my situation he was ON TOP OF IT! 👌🏾 We needed a suit that day by 2p and be in Lindon, UT by 3p. •••Hubbs walked in, we picked the color we wanted, Ryan suggested different suits of that color and Hubbs tried them all on (can I just say, it was WAY COOL seeing Hubbs getting a little feel of what I have to do to find a dress hahaha!) We picked one and got measurements situated. We left to go find my dress and make a final decision on the suit. *upon checking another suit spot while I was finding my dress we knew right away - UWM Men’s Shop would be THEEEEE BEST CHOICE!! *We went back to UWM, Cody and Statton got our suit marked up and they told us they have a tailor on site and would have the suit ready ASAP then they would call us to pick it up. *When we picked it up Ryan greeted me and carried our tailored suit out along with my shopping bags (it was my dress and shoes I had accidentally left in the shop earlier LOL 🤪)

I wish there were 10stars I could mark on here! Ryan, Cody and Statton pulled through for us when we needed it! Not to mention the amazing customers service that absolutely warmed my heart and gave me the extra boost on I needed that day to get me through 💪🏾 🥳🥳 Can’t thank these wonderful gentlemen enough! THEY ROCK OUR SOCKS!!!
