Absolutely delicious and authentic Thai food! I had nearly given up on finding authentic Thai in SLC. Every restaurant, even the ones with good ratings, is just Americanized crap. Ratings obviously left by people who have not lived in Thailand.
This place is the real deal. They do have a menu posted from Tea Rose, but they also have a menu of authentic Thai style items. Order from the authentic menu and tell them to please make the spicy level as a Thai person would eat. Spice level is not something that should be negotiated. Eat like a Thai person and deal with the spice.
According to the wonderful woman taking the order, the place is no longer associated with Tea Rose, which is a very good thing. Tea Rose is NOT authentic at all. It's now HatYai Thai Express (Hat Yai is a Thai city down near the border with Malaysia).
I had the pad krapow moo kai dow (stir fried onion, Thai basil, minced pork and Thai chilies with a fried egg on top). It was absolutely delicious and authentic.
My new favorite Thai restaurant. It's actually the only one in SLC that I would recommend and I have tried...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this place! The food is incredibly authentic and full of bold Thai flavors. You just need to know what to order, and you’re in for a treat. I had the Gaeng Som, Gai Tod Hat Yai, Khao Soi, mango sticky rice, and a couple of other traditional Thai desserts—everything was absolutely delicious. Thai dessert, in particular, was a standout—sweet, fragrant, and perfectly balanced.
The chef and staff are very friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. There’s only one chef preparing everything fresh, so if it’s a busy time, you might have to wait a little—but it’s 100% worth it for the quality and care that goes into every dish.
Another big plus: there’s plenty of parking available, which makes visiting super convenient, especially compared to many other places where parking is a hassle.
If you’re craving real Thai food made with love and precision, this spot is definitely worth checking out. I’ll absolutely be coming back to try more from the menu. Highly...
Read moreThis is the second time I've tried them and unfortunately, I've just been disappointed. I used to go to the Tea Rose Diner years ago and remembered it being sooo good. The first time we went here we tried the Mango Curry, it was okay. The Pad Thai was saturated in peanut sauce and we could barely eat it. You couldn't taste anything else. I went back today to try it again, and even put in some comments on the order about my previous experience, and maybe they put less sauce on, I can't tell. I would still say the recipe really needs work, for being a staple on the menu. It doesn't taste like Pad Thai, to me, it's just so so sticky sweet, I don't get any other flavor but sweet peanuts. It's like there is straight peanut butter on the noodles. The Thai Tea was great! I love the idea of this place but I'm not sure I'll give it a third try, at least not...
