I went to shake shack on a Monday, which seemed as good a day as any. This wasn't the first time I had visited this location, but it was the first time I had ever eaten there. This is a long story for another day, but the basic lesson from that previous visit is don't ever have Dirk from Floor Styles install your Dur-A-Flex cementitious urethane floors. Seriously, not ever. But again, that is a story from the past. So picture this- i was on my way home from the chiropractor, which is again a long story for another time, and I thought I would check out Shake Shack because a coworker of mine had recommended it highly. In fact, on that day last week I had offered to make my coworker lunch, and he very adamantly declined my offer because he was planning on visiting Shake Shack later in the afternoon and suggested that he didn't want to fill up on lousy food before this culinary pilgrimage. So I was intrigued. I've been to Shake Shack once before actually, before it was cool, in New York City, but this was my first visit in Salt Lake City. I walked in and ordered, and while I was waiting I became aware of the chaos that was presented in front of me in the open kitchen. There was literally like a pool of melted ice cream on the floor by one of the garbage cans. And everyone was so busy that they were just walking over it, sometimes through it. One of the refrigerators had melted ice cream smears all over the handle and door. Like, I get it, you are super busy and don't have time to take a lunch break so you just panic scrape a couple knuckles of ice cream out of the bin with your bare hands and put it in your pocket for later, but you should at least lick your fingers clean before opening the beverage cooler. There was a person screaming peoples names as the orders were coming out, and everyone in there just ignored her. Nobody wanted to pick up their food, or had forgotten why they were there, which honestly makes some sense. You go in with a simple plan, but once you are in there it's hard to remember why you went in. I received a grease stained bag of food from somewhere, it just appeared in the window. Again, just lick your hands clean before folding up the to go bags, standard foodservice procedures. I ate the food and it was decent, definitely a higher tier than traditional fast food. They have some sort of future machine that cuts their French fries like this WWWWW, which is a nice touch. If I have the pleasure of being near the fashion place mall again, I would consider going back. But the vibes are weird. It gives off a real lord of the flies, no one in charge kids making their own rules with mixed results type vibe. You guys do alright, probably shouldn't change anything.
See you around...
Read moreI wanted to try Shake Shack, because I've never had it before. So I went by my local Shake Shack right in front of Fashion Place Mall in Murray, UT twice to give them a try. BOTH times it was after noon when they are supposed to be open. BOTH Times they had big banner signs all around the store exclaiming NOW OPEN! But BOTH times they had a smaller paper sign with tiny print you couldn't see driving by in a car that informed me they were closed.... They literally put a tiny paper sign on the front door that said "Heads Up We Are Closed, We Will Be Back Soon" The sign made no mention of WHEN they would return or WHY they weren't open for business during the business hours they listed on their door and on their website and Google Business! According to Google their hours are 12pm-7pm, closed on the big Holidays of course. But both times I went it was on a weekday, NOT a Holiday, and within that 12-7 time frame that they were supposed to be open. So how do I rate a store that I tried to do business with twice, but who weren't available either time to take my business despite their posted business hours. I feel like this is a sure-fire way to disenfranchise customers. After the first time I was hesitant to go back because I had been let down. The Customer Experience relies on expectations and rewards. You set expectations then you exceed them so the customer is neurologically rewarded for choosing your business. When you set expectations and then fail to even attempt to meet them you literally create a neurological barrier in your customer's minds that will keep them from returning and giving you a second chance. And when you do that TWICE I cannot imagine how your business would survive. I did hear that shake shack executives took advantage of the PPP bailout program during the Covid Pandemic, so I know they are benefitting from taxpayer dollars to help them stay afloat. But I'm disappointed with how they are choosing to do business at my local Shake Shack, and certainly feel like that money is going to no good cause when they are not even able to open up and do business during the advertised business hours. What happened Shake Shack? Do you guys even want...
Read moreAfter my weekly chemotherapy session yesterday. My wife suggested that we stop by the Fashion Place Shake Shack to check out a car show they were sponsoring. We felt obligated to make a purchase so my wife went in to buy 2 shakes. My question before I get to the complainant is why would you name your business “Shake Shack” when you mostly just serve burgers? They literally only have 3 basic flavors chocolate, vanilla strawberry with 3 additional specialty flavors! I’m just saying. You would be better off stopping by the store for a gallon tub of Neapolitan ice cream to serve your whole family several times over for cheaper than a single shake from this place. Now the complainant: I chose a basic chocolate shake at $6.00 my wife chose a specialty shake that had corn flakes or something like that for $6.50 add the governor’s share and it came to nearly $14! For 2 below the rim 15 oz cups!!! It’s outrageous! I agree they should earn a decent living but $6.50 for a small child size shake? That really didn’t satisfy all that much. Until now I had only experienced shake shack in Las Vegas. I won’t be back! I will stick with iceberg shakes that are not only above the rim delicious, more flavor options in very large oversized cups for about a dollar less! I buy one of those I can enjoy it 3 days in a row due to the incredible invention called the freezer. Good luck staying in business Shake Shack you definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. As I was posting this the thought occurred to me that the reason this place had customers was because of the car show? Hey shake shack management team just a marketing tip.. you wouldn’t need a gimmick to bring in customers if you had a good product at a reasonable price! Make your product and price speak for itself. I don’t see Leatherby’s or iceberg sponsoring car shows to get customers in their doors. I always experience a line. They have a great product with sizable portions at a reasonable price. Hmmm 🤔 the wait at those establishments is worth the...
