One-word Review: Desi Paradise! Quantity: 5/5 Quality: 4.5/5 Value for Money: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Packaging: 4/5 Hygiene: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5
➡️ First Impression: As someone who loves exploring Indian grocery stores, Patel Brothers in Naperville was a delight to visit. This massive store, comparable to a Hy-Vee, is a one-stop shop for all things desi, and it exceeded my expectations with its variety and atmosphere.
➡️ What I Bought: I spent around $100 on a variety of items, including fresh vegetables, spices, dals, desi snacks, and traditional Indian sweets. The store had everything I needed to stock up my kitchen with authentic Indian ingredients.
➡️ Quality & Variety: The selection was impressive, with every imaginable Indian ingredient available—fresh produce, a wide range of spices, multiple brands of dals, frozen desi foods, and an array of sweets. The vegetables looked fresh, and the spices were well-stocked with trusted brands. The only minor note is that a few items could have been better organized on the shelves, but it didn’t hinder the shopping experience.
➡️ Portion vs Price: For $100, I got a fantastic haul that felt like great value for the quantity and quality. The prices were reasonable for the variety and authenticity, making it a worthwhile investment for anyone cooking Indian meals at home.
➡️ Packaging & Presentation: The items were neatly packed at checkout, with care taken to separate fresh produce from other goods. The packaging was functional, though some items (like spices) could benefit from sturdier bags to prevent spills.
➡️ Service & Environment: The store was clean, hygienic, and had a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. It wasn’t overly crowded, which made browsing enjoyable. The staff was polite, and the checkout process was quick and efficient, with minimal wait time. The in-store kitchen area was a nice touch, offering ready-to-eat options for those looking for a quick bite.
➡️ Final Thoughts: Patel Brothers in Naperville is a haven for anyone seeking authentic Indian groceries. The huge variety, clean environment, and efficient service make it a top choice for desi shopping. Whether you’re stocking up on spices, dals, or indulging in sweets, this place has it all. I’ll definitely be returning for my next grocery haul!

Read moreAttrocious customer service representative. Bought an organic strawberry produce on 12/5 around 8 pm and when I went home and I saw it completely with germs and white substanves at the bottom. Yesterday 12/06 I went again and asked the guy in customer service and he said we cannot refund on produce and he was giving lectures like ppl don't blindly take the fruit packs and they will inspect all around the box and I have failed to do so that.. and asked me to take a new one again. Are you saying that you guys will keep only failed products in yout shop and it is responsibility of customer to find which one is good or bad????? Is it like a game that you guys are trying to conduct?? Winners will get fresh and losers will get bad ones??? Hope they find some other guy in customer service otherwise this guy might get su'd by ppl pretty soon. I went there again to the same rack and checked all the straw berry boxes and everything was like the same one that I got on 12/5. Omg I wonder these guys check out their produce every day???? Then I askd this guy - do you want me to take a rotten one again to replace the old one ? Then he has got nothing to say, started to say some lame reasons like his guys did not replace the produce and refunded the sale.
I have taken pictures of the produce and will add it soon. Guys please be cautious as it is not good for old ppl or...

Original review from Nov 2023: My family shopped here regularly until recently. On October 28th my husband and I bought groceries then realized we were overcharged, instead of charging us for 3 boxes of Tapel Danedar tea we were charged for 39 (approx. $122 extra for items we didn't purchase). We went in for a refund, instead we were again charged for another 36 boxes of tea, unfortunately I didn't notice until we got back home which is my fault. We were now overcharged $244 in total for items we didn't purchase. I called the manager and he refused to refund me, literally yelling at me, he said their cameras show me getting a refund, which of course, was not true nor do their records reflect. I disputed it with my credit card unfortunately they weren't able to help as they said the receipts show that I purchased the items. Patel Brothers stole $244 from our family and lost a regular customer. If you're going to shop here I advise you to always look at your receipt before leaving the cash register.
Oh and check the expiration dates, we noticed items we bought had expired months prior to purchasing (especially in the frozen section) so we started checking expiration dates after this...
