They charged me $200 to tell me my car was fine. They didn't actually check anything, and my car failed with the original problem I brought it in for on the way home.
24 hours earlier… My Infiniti G37 broke down on the side of the road, luckily close to my house. I realized that it was the battery. I jumped my car and got it the few blocks home. My son (an electrical engineer) helped me diagnose the problem. He determined that the battery was not getting a charge from the alternator, and the alternator probably had a problem. I scheduled a call with Infiniti to check it. In the meantime, I put my battery on a charger to get a full charge prior to taking to Infiniti.
I brought my car into Infiniti. I told them I was not an expert, but I had put a multimeter on the electrical cables and determined that the alternator did not seem to be working. I told them I changed the battery the night before so I could get it to Infiniti.
I received a call a few hours later. They told me the battery was fine. They test drove it with no problems. They could not find any problem. I asked if they were sure? I told them that I felt the alternator was not working. They again said the battery was fine. They told me the battery cables were loose.
I came down to the office, they charged me $200 for "Diagnosis". I started to drive home. I made it about 1/2 way home and the car died on a very busy road. Luckily my wife was with me, she took the wheel and I started to push it 3 blocks to the nearest side road (a big thanks to a few people who also stopped to help). The battery was dead.
I phoned Infiniti and talked to "Michael". Apparently, he is the head of the service department. I told him what happened. He took no ownership of the problem, did not offer to help me, and read the service case notes and told me that the cables were loose - nothing he could do.
I took the car to another shop. They replaced the alternator, and the car is working again.
I do not recommend dealing with Naperville Infiniti. I have loved my Infiniti and was in the market to buy a new one. After this experience I will NOT deal with this dealership, or any dealership affiliated with them. This was a simple customer experience problem, handled in the worst way possible by the leadership of their...
Read moreWe typically take our car here for service and it decent,, but it’s really gone downhill lately. We lost the antitheft lug for a QX 80 and they quoted us initially $580 to replace all the lugs when it was more like $80 to replace that lugs that actually have the lock on it… In addition we had a ongoing issue with the 2019 QX 80 that no one seems to have any idea how to resolve to the point I doubt I’ll ever ever get another infinity again. infinity is continuously losing market share, and these guys definitely are not helping. Never again...
