It's not for everyone, but I really enjoyed my time at Belmont University. The institution prepared me well for a career in the music industry and I wouldn't be the same person had I gone elsewhere. The school is excellent at setting up internships for students and the alumni network is robust. I found many of my classes to be enlightening and thought provoking.
The professors and administration still uphold Christian values, but it's my understanding that secular ideals are being more readily taught and spread. In my opinion, it's healthy to be an environment filled with people of varying beliefs and lifestyles opposed to a more sheltered bubble, but I'm not a fan of misrepresentation. If you're expecting a Liberty University or Azusa Pacific University kind of experience, this isn't the institution for you.
My main complaints are the food could be better and the school is growing too quickly! Their acceptance rate is out of control and I question whether the admission standards have lowered. By all accounts, it's a reputable, legitimate university, but I hope the school doesn't loose its quality and identity in the...
Read moreThe Bad- Transferred in from out of state and did 2.5 years. 2 of those years were warranted, but due to poor communication and planning from my counselor and an incompetent financial aid staff, i had to stay here 1 more semester than anticipated.
The Good- Excellent education with caring professors. This school attracts a wide variety of talented individuals with wide eyes about the world. The school does well with preparing its students for their careers. I loved my time here.
Some will complain about the school's traditions and archaic rules, but Belmont is a private school, you don't have to attend if it doesn't fit your metric.
I enjoyed my time here, I was set in a career less than a month after graduating, but the school really needs to raise the intensity of the requirements and lower acceptance because it cannot handle the rate of growth that it is experiencing. Fix the internal communication issues, aging infrastructure and financial aid department, then look at accepting more students. The rapid growth only tells us that the Bruins are growing too big for...
Read moreBelmont University is questionable at best. My girlfriend is a Biblical studies major and much of her curriculum reduces Christ to a mere man and challenges his authenticity in scripture. I do not reccomend this University for any Christian related classes. Many professors will claim they are Christian but do not accept scripture as truth and will openly challenge its authority. The University as a whole is committed to...
