We had the pleasure of getting to dine at this wonderful restaurant in the heart of Nashville, TN at the conclusion of a wedding dinner rehearsal evening for some amazing friends of ours. We got to meet the owner who not only served our entire party on the evening we attended but also shared the restaurant's wonderful mission and ministry to homeless men in the Nashville area. He actually gave his own testimony and then explained how they offer cooking education and training to men who are homeless, may possibly have drug addictions and/or other afflictions and who are looking for help getting off the streets. Not only do these men get trained in the culinary arts and receive certifications in the field so that they are able to go out and get jobs of their own when their training is complete, but they are also provided a place to live while they are going through their training. And probably most important of all, at least in my mind, is that they are also provided with spiritual ministry and counseling services, tools, etc throughout their training and stay. I absolutely love this place and their mission. And then the food...the tomato bisque soup was some of the best I've ever had along with the rosemary chicken & rice. And their cheesecake was so amazing its difficult to put into words. If you're in the Nashville, TN area and looking for a great sit-down restaurant... this is an absolute must! Not only will you receive wonderful service and amazing food, but you'll be supporting an absolutely wonderful restaurant owned by a genuine individual who has a true servant's heart with a beautiful mission! Five-Stars all...

UPDATE Cookery rectified my bad experience

Initially, I had a poor experience with an incorrect uber order, and no way to reach the restaurant to fix it. The owner and customer service coordinator reached out the next day to arrange a complimentary order with the items missed in my last order.

I really appreciated the level of customer service, as they were able to put a credit on my uber account for the missing items so that I could reorder those at my leisure.

Thank you!

Initial Review - 1 star

The food is probably decent IF YOU CAN GET THE RIGHT ORDER. I WOULDN'T KNOW THOUGH.

Ordered sausage rolls, with coffee rubbed fries, vegemite toast, and a breakfast wrap. Received toast with NO vegemite on it, two coffee rubbed fries, ZERO sausage rolls, and a breakfast wrap my husband said was decent. I have not been able to reach the restaurant by phone yet- their line is always busy.

When you're hungry on a Sunday morning, it's infuriating to receive an order that is THIS incorrect. Vegemite toast with NO VEGEMITE on it? A 2nd order of FRIES IN PLACE OF SAUSAGE ROLLS ? ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE to fix the problem?

I appreciate the good they're doing in the community, but is there no manager to oversee quality control? They should reevaluate their training protocol and management, unless they want to continue disappointing paying customers. Particularly disappointing considering everyone says the food is great, and I was so looking forward to...

UPDATE: Two years later and this place is still AWESOME. Its always a treat when i get to go there. Went there for lunch with family. It was busy but we got seats. Service was appropriately timed. Food was excellent as always. I tried the curry pie - delicious! I continue to be impressed.

P.s. it would be nice to have a changing table in the restrooms (men and womens). I changed my baby on a bench seat in the bathroom but it wasn't great. I can't wait to go again!

This was one of the best food places I have been to. I had the avo smash on wheat bread. It was delicious. The lettuce was nice and fresh and they did not skimp on avocado. My husband had the meat pie which was SO good. The pastry was crisp and flaky, soft and melted in the mouth. The meat filling was to die for. They have coca cola in bottles (which i love). They had plastic cutlery I presume because of Covid19, to be on the safe side. We loved it so much we messaged the inlaws so we could take them there. Portion sizes were not huge, but not small either - just perfect. Food came out so fast we barely waited. Oh and the bbq loaded fries OMG! If I weren't already married I would want to marry those fries. The fries were thick and not crispy (which was awesome) and the bbq also had cooked red onion on top. Would reccomend this place to EVERYONE. Parking was also easy. My australian father in law is...

Review: A Taste of Australia at The Cookery in Nashville Tucked away in the heart of Nashville, The Cookery is a hidden gem that brings a delightful Australian twist to the local food scene. While the café is known for its warm atmosphere and mission-driven approach, its menu is where the magic truly happens—especially for those looking to explore authentic Aussie flavors. From the moment you walk in, the inviting aroma of expertly brewed coffee (think flat whites done right) and freshly baked goods transports you straight to a cozy café in Sydney or Melbourne. The Aussie Meat Pie is a standout—golden, flaky pastry filled with rich, savory beef and gravy, just as you’d find in an Australian bakery. Pair it with a side of their crisp, well-seasoned fries for the full experience. Another must-try is their Lamington, a perfectly fluffy sponge cake coated in chocolate and rolled in coconut. It’s the kind of simple yet satisfying dessert that makes you appreciate the beauty of classic Australian treats. Beyond the food, The Cookery’s atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly service that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal, this place is a perfect blend of great food, community, and a taste of Australia right in Nashville. Highly recommended for food lovers looking for something unique!

💓💓💓 LOVE this place, they had won me over before I walked in when I saw the sign in the window saying you can volunteer every Saturday I believe to help feed those in need, then our server was awesome 😎 and the food sealed the deal 😊 everything was awesome, best savory crepes I have ever had (don't remember the exact name but spinach and bacon was involved) and the pancakes are huge my bf took made three meals out of the stack of 3 banana walnut. We loved that there were bananas and walnuts in between the layers not only on top very buttery mmmm 🥰 (I'm all about ratios when it comes to food) my kiddo ordered french fries but ended up getting a bagel and cream cheese instead because she was expecting frozen fast food fries, which these are not they were delicious and I did not mind at all that she did not eat them 🤣 I did not try the bagel but she ate it all and was asking for a second before I knew the first was gone so I think it was good as well lol the food was awesome, the people are sweet and I love their giving tree and wall for prayers ❤️❤️ it was truly a great experience definitely worth checking out
