STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!
I WOULD GIVE IT -5 STARS IF POSSIBLE.
I was living in Nashville and paying dental insurance so I decided to get a cleaning, before moving to another state. A friend had gone here and needed some work done but they recommended it cuz she got in quick and it was a clean facility (which was true).
I had never had any dental work done and take good care of my teeth, but when I went here, they told me I had 3 teeth that needed fillings. I was about to move out of Nashville, to another state and panicked that I should get it taken care of then so I made an appointment the following week.
When I went back for my filling appointment, 3 fillings turned into 2 “really wide and deep fillings” that Dr. Jay recommended putting crowns on. I should have realized the first red flag was getting both sides of my mouth numbed in the same sitting, as this is poor dentistry from what I have learned from other dentists. But again, not knowing any better, I went ahead and did it.
Another red flag- most good dentists mold and make their own crowns. Embassy dental sends them out and a lab makes them because it’s cheaper.
So I finally get the permanent crowns placed and I’m having awful pain every time I chew on anything. I had to go back several times to get them ground down to make my bite better. Another red flag- Dr. Jay ground down my upper teeth to try and fix my bite (all my prior work was on my bottom teeth). Why touch perfectly good enamel???
Also funny story, 4-5 of my co-workers (all in our early 20’s) also went to Dr. Jay, and all of us now have fillings and crowns. Coincidence? I think not.
About a week or two later I moved out of the state. Still having pain and sensitivity I called him up and he recommended coming back in. So I flew from NY back to Nashville and he spent less than 10 minutes with me trying to grind down these crowns to make my bite better. Felt a little better finally so I flew back to NY the next day.
Two days later I had traveled to my parents house in MA, and the crown he “fixed” fell off. WHAT? So at this point I am so beyond frustrated I called up my childhood dentist and he saw me on a Saturday morning and fixed it for me for free but was mortified about all of this, as I had seen him just 6 months before and my teeth were perfectly fine.
Finally my bite felt okay and the crowns didn’t feel loose. I was however, still having sensitivity in the filling but it felt better with Advil. I have kind of ignored the pain on the filling for about 8 months, but I noticed a dark spot on one of my crowns and now living in NYC I felt I should find a new dentist.
I had my boyfriend do a test run and found a new dentist I like. I called up embassy dental and I asked them to email me my x-rays so my new dentist could have a copy of them, they sent them to my email address but there was only one crown on the x-ray and when I emailed back asking if they had anymore as I had another crown done, silence.
My new dentist was great, she talked to me about my crowns and the pain I was having. And I told her about my experience at embassy dental. She took new x-rays and there is an air pocket under my filling! Which is probably what is causing all of my pain, and the spot I had noticed, is A HOLE in my crown. A HOLE!!! Less than a year later. Also a side note- I have not chewed a piece of gum or had any sticky candy since I’ve had all this work due to my fear of messing anything up.
I feel pain every time I chew food. I can’t enjoy anything crunchy or chewy anymore. And all of this headache was 100% caused by embassy dental. I hope none of you go there and end up like me. This...
Read moreI've been a patient at embassy dental since 2023, and I started my Invisalign treatment here that same year. I had a really bad experience here - I will be upfront and honest about the fact that I did not get 22 hours of wear time daily for the first portion of my treatment, but for about the last six months I've taken my treatment extremely seriously with a MINIMUM of 22 hours of wear time per day. I have done my part. I expressed my growing concerns over my bite at more than one follow up appointment - it's too open, I'm losing my bite and it's awkward to chew, and there are times that I start to feel really insecure about the way my smile looks. I loved my smile before starting my Invisalign journey, I only signed on for it to even out the pressure on my back teeth, and I'm so heartbroken to feel this way after investing thousands of dollars into this treatment. at my last appointment, many teeth left side of mouth were making no contact at all while there is way, way to much contact and pressure on the frontal right side - I was told that my bite looked good, and that I just needed to do another refinement to get the pressure off of my front teeth. I've recently just moved over to another practice after getting another opinion from an orthodontist - I will need about another year in Invisalign trays, potentially with rubber bands, to correct my now way open bite. This is going to cost me thousands more.
Unfortunately, that's not all I have to say. I feel that it's necessary to bring up how uncomfortable I felt at this office - the woman who managed my Invisalign case obviously did not like me, it was so blatantly obvious in how I was greeted and how I was spoken to, they did the absolute bare minimum to engage with me. I felt so beyond uncomfortable at my follow up appointments. There was even a time that they believed it was funny to have a joke and tell me I needed Nine more trays and and several more "buttons" placed on my teeth as I was sitting down in their chair - I was so alarmed that I actually stopped her while prepping my teeth and asked to see how my teeth were projected to move - I was this close to making the decision to end my treatment right there. She said "don't you trust me?" And kept on applying buttons to my teeth - it was only after the couple so buttons that I ACTUALLY needed were applied and I pieced together that what she told me was not true did she admit that it was a joke. It was not friendly, that laugh was had at my expense. I really wish I'd made it clear how messed up that was at the time that it happened.
I want to add that the front desk was always kind, as was my hygienist and my provider, but I only saw my provider a handful of times over the past year and a half- two years of this process.
please seriously consider seeking a second opinion and exploring other options if you are considering going into Invisalign at this office. I deeply, deeply regret not seeking the opinion of an orthodontist before making that...
Read moreNashville Magazine rated "Dr. Jay" (Ruark) as the Best Dentist in Nashville and he (and his staff) certainly lived up to this billing yesterday.
Due to a cracked and painful tooth, he kindly treated me as an urgent patient double booking his already busy schedule, with just one day's notice.
Then, the extraction ended up being extremely difficult and thus quite time consuming. The the devitalized tooth was friable, breaking repeatedly, thus requiring great patience and meticulous attention to detail on Dr. Jay's part to painstakingly remove each root fragment. His professionalism and attention to detail was confirmed, when he verified the completion of the extraction radiographicly. As it turned out, the x-ray did show yet another retained fragment in the depths of the socket that he patiently removed.
The Embassy Dental staff were all pleasant and friendly to everyone in the office that day. Terry, Dr. Jay's dental assistant, was especially kind. The depths of her compassion and curtesy were readily on display. She kicked into action after hearing that I had was still recovering from several recent hospitalizations and that I had just got off a 12 hr night shift prior to my visit. She quickly completed the patient intake and screening x-rays. Then, instead of placing me back in an uncomfortable, upright waiting room chair, she placed me in a reclining patient treatment chair, assuring my comfort by bringing a cup of water, a pillow, providing me with a face cloth to block light from eyes as I rested, then gave other staff instructions to let me rest until Dr. Jay was ready for me.
Her skill and ease at doing her job was also impressive. Anticipating Dr. Jay's needs for the procedure, she had the operatory fully stocked with easily a hundred different items, all no more than an arms length from the doctor. This along with her calm, reassuring manner helped defuse the unavoidable anxiety I had about having this surgery. Dr. Jay and Terry were like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers performing a perfectly choreographed dance with instruments offered and assistance given without instructions or requests required.
Her unique combination of 'High Touch and High Tech' are to be praised and highly valued. Her obvious potential for advancement will be readily recognized by other professionals and business leaders coming through the office, so make sure she is well compensated and publicly praised for her performance to assure her job...
