Note during pandemic: if you need to actually go on premises (like to use computers) then you have to make an appointment. But for checking out books you can have them bring the to you curbside, no appointment needed for that.
The Nashville libraries are great. Because they all pool their archives, that means you can rent a book that's at any of the libraries and have it delivered to the library closest to you.
The Southeast library is the one I go to, and it's pretty much the nicest building in the Antioch area.
Curbside pickup during pandemic is cool. And not having late fees and a 100-book checkout limit is really nice to say the least.
And it was easy to get setup with an app (I use libby) to checkout their audibooks with. It alerts you if a book is going to be auto-returned soon.
Can't say enough good things about this particular library and the Nashville library system as a whole. You save so much money by using the library; why would you not?
The only downside at all, really, is just that the books have plastic covers on them. But that's necessary and a pretty minor price to pay for unlimited reading. They have had almost every single book I've looked up, and I have looked up some...
Read moreThe Nashville Public Library system is one of the best in the nation (seriously. they have the award to prove it). This location is one of the best. Easy in, easy out. There are drop box locations on the outside of the mall by the library as well as inside the doors of the mall. So even if the library is closed, your book returns go INSIDE the building. Easy peasy. What's more, there is plenty of parking because it shares an entrance with the community center, so it has security on duty and plenty of elbow room inside. You can check out laptops or iPads for on site use as well as ukeleles to take home with you.
The library system also has NO FINES for overdue books, so long as you actually return them. Otherwise you are charged replacement cost for the materials. There is a teen center at this location, plenty of study rooms and a strong, free WiFi signal. Bring your kids and they'll be able to play at the park across the green and enjoy plenty of books in the children's section. There is also an extensive digital collection so you could just check everything out that way and never even set foot in the library!
I loved my local library when I was a kid, but Nashville's blows it way out...
Read moreI’m only going here since it’s closest to my house. The library staff are not doing their job. There are people eating their food , talking loud as if they’re in a restaurant but the library staff does not say anything about it. Kids are super loud, crying, yelling, playing music. Shouldn’t libraries supposed to be a quiet place to read, work and study? Why are ‘t the staff doing anything about it?? A lot of students are coming here to study for their exams, to concentrate on their studies, read books quietly and some people just don’t have common sense to understand that and acting like it’s a restaurant or...
