Went for lunch on Sunday before 3 PM and ordered 2 lunch specials exactly as they appeared on their menu that you have to look at on your phone in order to place an order. Both listed at $7.99 each, so we ordered a chicken chimichanga and the menu says with chunk or shredded chicken. The waiter asked if we wanted grilled chicken and said yes, we guess so,...just not shredded chicken. The other order was a Deluxe Burrito w/shredded chicken w/beans & rice. Chicken chimichanga arrived as was ordered. Chicken burrito arrived as a burrito only w/nothing else. Asked the waiter where the rest of my order was and showed him the menu on my phone that it was supposed to include beans and rice. He left & returned and with a plate of beans and rice and brought them back and then I realized that the burrito was also missing the tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream. Waiter said this was his fault as he had only written down a burrito & that’s what the kitchen made. So, I asked for those items, he brought those items on a separate plate. So… We thought all was good. Food was good. But, then when the check came, one was priced at $11.99 & the other was priced at $9.99. After complaining and once again showing the menu on my phone of their pricing, the waiter left & brought back a corrected check along with the manager. They had lowered the burrito to the menu price, but for the chicken chimichanga, they said that since the chicken was grilled they had to charge $2 extra. Paid the bill...But will never return to this...
Read moreMaria Bonita Authentic Mexican Restaurant is as authentic as they declare themselves to be, speaking as a Texican who travels and samples Mexican food everywhere I go. Ther menus has most items offered at all Mexican restaurants, including a kids menu. The indicator for a good authentic Mexican restaurant is the salsa and appetizers, tortillas, and rice and beans. The salsa is homemade and delicious - not too chunky or spicy, but flavorful. Rice and beans could be better, but for a restaurant appealing to general palates it was still good. Tortillas are basic. The pitcher of margaritas was fair. In comparison to other Mexican restaurants, this rates a strong 4 stars, because there is always room for improvement. The atmosphere is entertaining, having karaoke available - which is always a hoot, especially if you are bilingual and understand the genres of Mexican music! The decor and service round out the atmosphere. The restaurant makes effort to attend every customer equally, especially during their busy time. I have been to this restaurant many times when slow and busy and never felt slighted in the least for service. Go and enjoy Maria Bonita. You won't regret the menu...
Read moreIf I return, it would be simply because they have happy hour all day, everyday on their margaritas. The waitress with the pink shirt acted as if she was annoyed that she had to serve customers. She never approached us and when she was told to she went to the back with her face frowned up, so the host served us. He was pleasant, not so attentive though seeing as he appeared to be running the floor. So I'm still not clear as to why the waitress was not serving us. However, once these 2 older white gentlemen came in she practically ran over to them, all smiles. She gave them a full rundown of the specials menu, etc. She came back 3 times and lingered having the most pleasant exchange. Neither myself nor the other young lady at the table next to me in the same section got so much as a welcome out od her. The food was OK to say the most. I ordered nachos and they were burnt. I tried something new because it was near my home but I'd rather make the drive to my former neighborhood in Hermitage to go to Las Palmas. They have prompt and friendly service all the...
