The past 5 years since my wife and I moved here and bought a home we have enjoyed living in BHC. Outside of the few months in the summer it's a great place to live. But coming from Phoenix this isn't anything we aren't accustomed to. One of the things we enjoy is every weekend going across the river and spending a few bucks on the games. We probably could have paid off this house by now with what we spend over there but it's our entertainment and something we both enjoy now that we're in our 50's and our kids have grown up and moved on their own. We take turns with all the casinos which ones we decide to spread our $ around and the River Lodge was one of the places we enjoyed. Sadly a bad experience on Friday could have changed that. We have some out of towners visiting us and 2 of them our nephew and grandson are 14 and 15.
We thought going to the River Lodge to go bowling and shooting pool would be something we could do with them. The first bad experience came with bowling. The lanes were busy with a birthday party so they were limited but there was one open lane for us. The first strange thing was when my grandson who's 14 went up to buy an icecream cone he was asked for ID. When he told them he wasn't old enough to have one they asked him well do you have a school id? Which he did not on him and not sure why he would be asked for one. At any rate the bowling did not work out either. After just 4 frames the lane stopped working. We hit the service button but nobody came. They were busy and understaffed so its understandable. My wife went to the counter and talked to the guy and came back and we waited for 30 minutes more but still nobody came available to fix the lane malfunction. I finally went back to the counter and they guy got on the radio and told somebody they still had a code red on lane 9 or whatever he said and wasn't getting a response so he told us he would go ahead and move us to lane 4. I told him at this point we were done with the bowling for the night and we'd like to see if they can just give us a refund and we'd go upstairs and play some pool. The kids after 45 minutes of sitting there on their phones were pretty much out of the bowling mode as were my wife and I. They said they could not give a refund the only they could do was a credit if we came back they would credit us for the games and shoes to bowl again. He took out a 2 inch sticky pad and wrote my name on it and 5 games with shoes and said he would stick this on their cork board for us to get credit.
We left the bowling and went upstairs where my wife gave her ID and got $20 in tokens for us to use on pool. We played a game or two and my grandson played a few dollars in the claw machine when we got approached for the minors to present ID by one of the bartenders. I told him they don't have ID we are just playing pool. I was not aware the minors weren't allowed to be in this section that basically looks like a chuck e cheese but he rudely informed us this was for adults and i should note there are machines around it to gamble at. He walked away we packed up the remaining tokens, cueball and headed up to the bar to return them. I wanted to question the bartender there why nobody said anything to us earlier and why there weren't any signs in that area that minors weren't allowed and if they would at the very least refund the rest of the tokens we purchased. Before I opened my mouth when I walked up the bartender just said 'nope' to tell me basically just shut up she wouldn't hear anything I had to say. I now was getting heated with receiving this attitude entirely unprovoked. I next said Ok who can I speak with to lodge a complaint? Her answer was simply "nobody". At this point I now said I demand to speak to a manger or anyone else besides you. She now decided she would listen to me but I told her no I had nothing to say to her I want to speak to a manager. She said she was going to call one but instead she...
Read moreMy family and I booked a family suite at this hotel. We used to like to stay here but will never stay here again. To start with we were forced to have to have our temperature taken. Number one, the person taking our temperature was not medically trained nor did we even know if her hands were clean as she put the thermometer up to all of our faces without even cleaning it after taking the previous temperatures of the people ahead of us that were being checked in. Next we were notified that not only were the pool and beach closed but the arcade was also closed.....but the casino was open?? This makes no sense. If we would have known this ahead of time we would have stayed else where due to the fact that the kids were looking forward to swimming. We also were unable to get any ice out of the ice machine on our designated floors which forced us to have to buy ice in the general store. Speaking of the general store they had all of the coffee and fountain drinks closed off so we were unable to get beverages. They also had hardly anything to drink in their refrigerated section. There was freight that sat on the floor in front of the coolers for 3 straight days. There was hardly any beer or water or soft drinks at all in the cooler. All of these things that we dealt with thus far blows my mind due to the fact that we paid alot of $$$$ to rent a suite and for what??? I want to refer back to the general store. There is an older lady that works there that has white hair that hates her job there. She was always rude when we went in there, and when my son and his friend went in there they wanted to order 2 pretzels. They were told that they didn't have any pretzels but there were pretzels on the little hot pretzel stand that looked like they were for sale. What gives??? The nail in the coffin was when we went to the "Big Horn Cafe", and had a party of 6 people. We were celebrating my daughter in laws birthday and wanted to have a nice dinner. Well as soon as we got there the hostess told us that they could not seat us all together and that we would have to break up our party and sit at 2 separate tables. I demanded that we all sit together due to the fact that we were celebrating a birthday. The hostess said that she would have to go and talk to the manager. She then came back and said that she could seat us all together. Once we got into the restaurant there were literally only 2 other tables of people in there eating. I am not sure what the issue was, but they had plenty of seating to accommodate our party of 6 with no problem, they just didn't want to. We also did not have any maid service the entire stay nor did we get any snack basket. I would not recommend anyone go to this hotel ever. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM A LOT OF GRIEF AND...
Read moreHorrible uncomfortable experience. The first night we were here the room we were in had a window that could be opened all the way. That's an extreme liability and safety issue. We checked out and decided to come back later the same day and instead of checking us into the same room or a room that had the same amenities for the same price they down graded us into a room with no fridge, no microwave, no working phone, a box TV from the early 90s and furniture with stains. I spoke to the front desk and upon voicing my concerns they wouldn't place us into a room that accommodated our needs instead they said if we upgraded rooms for $30 they could do it? That is absolutely ridiculous. The price we paid was identical for a similar room they were trying to "upgrade" us to but instead DOWNGRADED us and wanted more money. I refused that offer and asked to speak with a manager and the front desk said that she wasn't here. The manager whose name is Gail told her employees over the phone no and they all refused to put us in another room even though there were plenty of other rooms available. They kept claiming that the 17th floor was the only floor with fridges and microwaves and that they weren't available but Shortly before that they said for a $30 upgrade we could be put into a room. I mentioned to them tha At I'm a diabetic that needs a fridge to put my insulin in and instead of placing us in the room directly next door that had everything our first room had they had someone take the fridge from that room and put it into our room. And all of this took so much time and was an extreme inconvenience. Then upon speaking to the manager in the morning in person she was not understanding. She provided no solution, no help and declined our request for a complimentary night or even a discount. We ended up paying the same price we did the first night for an identical room. The bottom line is she put us into another room as an "upgrade" for the same price we paid before. Then the next room had no air conditioning. It was broken so we had to move rooms again. I spoke to Gail the manager again this morning to see what she could do about giving us another night because my flight home got cancelled and I would be sleeping in my car and she was not understanding and said No theres nothing they can do. I said I would be giving her horrible reviews and she raised her voice and said I was threatening her. This experience was by far the worst I've ever experienced. The casino was great the hotel needs a lot of improvements and...
