I've tried the brand before and have never been horribly impressed with it. It's a fun atmosphere. This one, located in the Golden Nugget, wasn't much different. The staff was friendly and attentive, there was no complaints about them.
Apps: fried calamari with fried pepperoncinis. It was good, could tell it was probably pre-made by the chain and then fried upon request, so nothing that stood out. Seasoning was fine, calamari was slightly mushy, or at least didn't have that slight chew fresh does. Peppers were good fried.
Drinks: lava flow, muddled strawberry basil something or another. Both sweet, middling on the pour.
Mains: wife got the Forrest's Seafood Feast. I got Forrest's surf and turf. For the surf and turf, I ordered medium rare, it would have been generous to call what I got medium. Dry and not a ton of flavor, had to salt it. My shrimp was cold--colder than room temp. I mentioned it (politely, I strive to never be rude to the servers because most often they are doing the best they can). After a bit she brought out 2 skewers instead of the one that it comes with, which was nice if her. The shrimp itself-not sure if microwaved or not, but definitely over done. Chewy with a hint of smoke/grilled flavor and not much else flavor wise. Overall underwhelming.
Wife's came with fried shrimp, fish n chips, and seafood hush puppies. The portions for each were small, especially considering the price. Her shrimp was wasn't dried out, decent size and hot. Her fish was overdone and dry. She only got two hush puppies, one was split in half (she didn't get the other half). They were dense and greasy, according to her. I didn't try them.
Our server was sweet and apologized for the wait and the shrimp. She did a great job and was working hard with the tables around us as well. Unfortunately I think the "chain" curse is solidly affecting this franchise and it will never be any good at any location.
Pay for the gimmick, not...
Read moreFour of us ate dinner at BUBBA GUMP SHRIMP COMPANY in Laughlin, Nevada on Wednesday, 11 April 2018.
We were greeted courteously and seated promptly as there was not yet a crowd though many tables were filled. We enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere and the movie playing on one of the restaurant TVs of “Forest Gump”.
Our waiter, Josh, explained how their “tag” system worked. “Run Forest Run” tag if we needed nothing and “Stop Forest Stop” if we needed something. Josh was polite and took our order around 6:00 p.m.
Our low rating of BUBBA GUMP SHRIMP COMPANY is due to not getting our dinner meals for about 25 minutes after placing our orders.
Plus, one of our meals was completely omitted from our order by Josh (he was apologetic) thus making our dinner time extended while waiting for Cindy’s order to be prepared while the rest of us ate. The other three of us who received meals on the first order were greatly displeased as our food was COLD. I had ordered the Forest Feast of fish, shrimp, fries and hush puppies. Whereas we did inform Josh of the coldness of our food and he offered excuses and to have replacement meals, we were already dismayed at the first delay and missing meal that we opted not to take a chance on reorder. At that point a manager should have come to our table to apologize. None did!
We were given a complimentary sampler dessert tray for our inconvenience, but that too took excessive time to be brought to our table. However, the desserts were tasty and good.
Slow service, cold food that should have been served piping hot, omitted orders and delays prompted three of us to vow not to return to BUBBA GUMP...
Read moreThis was my first time at Bubba Gump Shrimp, and overall it was a great experience! The staff was friendly, and they were able to seat our party of 13 just 20 minutes after we checked in at their opening time of 12:00 PM—pretty impressive for a large group.
The interior was clean and comfortably cool. They also have a patio right on the river with cozy fireplaces you can sit around, which added a nice touch to the atmosphere.
The food was a little on the pricey side, especially the seafood, but still within reason for the location and setting.
Our waitress was fantastic—super friendly and incredibly attentive. She checked in with us often, kept our waters full, and really made sure our group was taken care of. Amazing service all around!
I ordered the All-American Cheeseburger (BBQ style) and added fried pickles. It was pretty good! The chipotle mayo was the standout for me—it made a perfect dipping sauce for both the burger and the fries.
Overall, Bubba Gump Shrimp has a good atmosphere, friendly staff, and a surprisingly wide variety of food options—even if seafood isn’t your thing. Worth a visit!
The only thing I’d change? The restaurant playlist. Some of the songs were so random, we couldn’t help but laugh—like, who picked this and why? It actually became part of the entertainment for our table, but a music update wouldn’t hurt!
I was way too hungover and hungry to remember to take any pictures—whoops! Just know the food did look as good as it tasted (or at least good enough to distract me from taking...
