Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation — Attraction in New Braunfels

This place to review section is supposed to be about the Senior Center as a whole, not specifically the volunteer thrift store. This is a nice place for local seniors to get involved in their community, find fellowship with other seniors, volunteer, and stay active. It is much more than just a thrift store- the thrift store is run by senior volunteers, and the profits go to find their other volunteer efforts like providing meals to house-bound seniors. I have always enjoyed the thrift store, and have often found really eclectic, funky prices I have to this day. Like any thrift store, you may not find something you like on each visit, as items are constantly rotating and it is not perfectly organized (what thrift store is, though?) I have found unbelievable deals there- and I have also noticed some items that are overpriced. I am a member who also participates in the Comal County Senior service facility woodcarvers group. This facility, although working on many improvements the director is diligently looking in to. The staff is incredibly kind to the seniors who frequent the facility. I am always impressed by the way the staff treats the senior users with dignity and sincere care. The director could not possibly do a better job than he already does. He is a true supporter of the center and all its members and guests. His support of the Woodcarving Group which meets there every Wednesday and Friday provides the carvers the opportunity to work on their woodcarving projects. It's very hard to review the Senior Center, as the physical plant is in transition, and that limits staff in its ability to perform their mission. Currently the building is showing its age, but funds from a County bond issue have already been budgeted to improve and update it. Staff are very cordial and helpful.
