I loved visiting this museum with my husband and my 4-year-old. They had a room with beautiful model trains and a stool so that my son could stand up and see everything. The man running it that day was kind and knowledgeable. We learned a lot! Behind the museum building there are a couple of train cars and an engine that you can go explore on your own. It's not a huge Museum so if you are looking for somewhere that you can spend a few hours at, this probably isn't it. But if you live close to it like I do, I'm in San antonio, or if you live in New Braunfels or if you're passing through and want to learn some cool facts about trains, stop on by! The voluteer on duty the day I visited was rightly proud of an HO model Railroad he was operating, and had encyclopedic knowledge of model railroading in general.
I'm new to Central Texas, and have been a Railroad buff for most of my life. While I never expected to get the full story of the Missouri Pacific Railroad from the station at New Braunfels, the "slice of life" details at this local museum help to fill in the blanks of the story of railroading in this part of...
