Wish the rating system could be over multiple categories. I've gone here multiple times and enjoy the atmosphere and setup. It is very wide open and spread out which makes for a comfortable night out. The issues in my opinion are this. 1. Don't charge 10.00 an hour for ping pong. It eliminates the possibility to challenge a random person playing and people will rent it and play a game and sit for 15-20 minutes holding the paddle and ball while others are waiting to play. 2.) Add another scrabble board. The wait list for this is always huge and there is plenty of room for another. 3.) Advertise that kids aren't allowed in after 9:30. I was in the middle of a scrabble game and have an 11 year old and 6 year old playing. We stopped in for dinner and games and waited an hour to play. It was 9:40pm we had just received our appetizers and an officer approached and said no kids after 9:30 You need to wrap it up. I acknowledged and talked to the waitress who was shocked. She apologized and said it was news to her too. The doorman is who asked the officer to tell us this. I explained to the doorman that it would be nice to know this prior to allowing us to order appetizers and more drinks to finish the game. We boxed the appetizers and left our drinks. All and all I spent 130.00 on dinner, 55.00 on treats and games for the kids and was asked to leave half way into our game. I didn't put up a fuss because i get it, I'm the guy with a couple of kids out at almost 10 at night. It's summer and we didn't anticipate waiting that long to play scrabble which they were dying to play. Part of me wishes they would have told me and said hey finish the game but next time just know this. Put something in writing on the door. I was under the impression it was family friendly. Bowling, video games, pool, ping pong... doesn't say bar anywhere. Says food, drinks, fun. 4.) Bartenders need a better algorithm or more experience, I've ordered a Manhattan multiple times and every one is completely different as well as the same thing with...
Read moreWe went there last night for a date night. We wanted a quiet but fun dinner. We have been here years ago & the menu has gone down hill & so has the kitchen staff apparently. There were also a whole lot of kids RUNNING everywhere. I felt bad for the hostess as she was playing babysitter & cattle herder all night. The parents were on the other side of the building & drinking, they didn’t seem to care that their kids were jumping on furniture. I would have been fine with that as that’s not the restaurants responsibility, also I was just tired from momming all day I didn’t want to have to yell at kids to calm down. Then my food which I thought was a simple order of bread knots for appetizer, BURNT. The waitress did offer to remake them but it was once they were mostly all eaten & we were full of burnt bread. Something to take note of before you take the food to customers. Then I ordered the Brussels sprout salad, it came completely burnt, with no bacon, hardly any cheese if any. The fried egg was over VERY EASY with the white part still runny. Even the grilled chicken was charred & burnt. Very unappetizing & made me feel worse than when I walked in. I ordered a kids chicken strip to just be safe after that & get something in my stomach. The whole time I saw the manager sitting at a table on her laptop. Never came to check on us, never offered anything but taking off the burnt food from our bill. I’m not happy & will never be back. The kitchen staff looked like a bunch of teens at a party, spending more time dancing & playing then paying attention to...
Read moreDowntown Social had the potential to be a great place to spend our night, but unfortunately is managed horribly. We arrived around 9:30 to celebrate my bachelorette weekend and found a large area right by the stage to drink, eat some light bar food and dance. We all were enjoying ourselves despite the entire bar being almost vacant. At around 11pm I went to the bathroom with a couple of my friends and was greeted by the manager who stood in the way of me returning to my table and accused me of getting sick in the bathroom and saying I needed to leave immediately. I told her I didn’t even come close to getting sick in the bathroom and could call any of the girls were in there out as a witness. She clearly had an issue with a large party providing good revenue and atmosphere for the establishment and was waiting for her opportunity to kick us out. Once she confronted me she dramatized the situation further by having a police officer and bouncer approach me before any of my friends could join me. I’m 5’2” so she obviously was just interested in ruining the evening a little further. Perhaps this place is good for their food during the day time, but unless you want to potentially have a once in a lifetime evening ruined by a lonely, out of touch manager who isn’t interested in keeping the business afloat, I’d easily recommend pour haus and the piano bar just down the street for a much more fun night with WAY better atmosphere, customers and staff.
