We travel to NB annually from Houston for family vacation. We have watched the "can ban" come and then be struck down and deemed unconstitutional..... well, apparently this has been reversed again and it is back on. The young ladies working at Landa Falls, while very nice, didn't mention this. I even specifically asked if the ice chest we brought would fit in their tube(it was different than what we usually bring). I was told yes. I Ended up receiving a citation and watching NB police officers dump WATER out on front of my 73 yr old Dad and several children, some as young as 6, with more floating left to go. funny they didn't pour out the beer after taking it....
We rented $260 worth of tubes, all they had to do was say something and we would've went and purchased containers and even rented one of their little ice chest if necessary. The police officer told me that some of the tube companies aren't cooperating and informing the customers for fear of losing the sale. At the end of the float, when I brought it up to the people on the bus, I was told "we have signs everywhere"... well, there are only 2. One could not be seen the way we approached the building. The other is behind the counter you pay at. Yes, ultimately a sign is "good enough" but when you've been doing the same thing annually for over forty years, you aren't going to read a small sign behind the counter when paying. All she had to say was, "you know that ice chest is too big?"
We feel this can ban is nonsense. How can a law be based on your intent to litter?...We really would like to help the tube rental companies out because after a ton of research, we found out the can ban is in place to try to push them out of business. It doesn't have anything to do with trash. But how can we help you out, if you don't...
Read moreWe love Landa Falls! I have been going to Landa Falls for the longest float on the river (usually about 3-4 hours) for the past three years. We love it! It’s by far the easiest way to get into the river and in your tube (vs a ladder or a concrete slab and having to hope you land in your tube and it doesn’t fly out from under you) - you can stand in the shallow water next to the steps, get all your tubes connected and situated, before you hop in and float away. Their space to get in the water is also huge so multiple groups can get in at the same time.
This year, the teen staff were all very efficient and organized - they had their system set up well after you pay your admission ($25 each + tax - ended up being about $64 for my friend and I, but be warned, NO CASH!!) (step 1) drop your keys 2) get your first wristband 3) get your second wristband) all laid out in the windows. The booth where you pay your tickets and sign your waivers also sell phone bags and cords for your sunglasses but I didn’t get those. We didn’t buy our tickets in advance since we got there early. This was honestly the first year I heard you could buy in advance.
Their bathrooms are a little rough but it’s honestly what I expect from a destination space next to a body of water, lol.
The shuttle bus ride back was great. It’s been a slow season so it was just my friend and I on the shuttle but Bruce, our driver, was very friendly! He had the windows open but it was still just a little stuffy in there, so if they can get AC that would be lovely.
Lastly, parking is GREAT especially if you get there early when they open - the lot is right across the street and FREE!! We got there around 10:30 this year and still got a spot within the first...
Read moreThe longest float on the Comal is a great choice because of the great price, ease of check-in, great tubes, and long relaxing ride! We traveled with a group of 7 and got an extra tube for our cooler and two kayak/wet bags we brought for valuables/snacks. I picked Landa Falls because the price was the same or better than all the other places and it had the longest float of all of them. This was a solid 3.5 hour float in early July while the water was moving very slow. It will take you longer to get to the first water chute (which is the biggest), but there is a park you can stop at to reapply sunscreen and jump in from the steps or wall for a little bit in the shade.
You park across the street from the retention pond/damn area and Wurstfest area. You then walk across the street and into the Wurstfest area and there is a sign to take you down to the check-in and tube storage area. We put our sunscreen on here because it was shaded and after we checked in. Then get your tubes, hop in the water and float.
When you get to the end of the float you exit where the final exit stairs are and then need to walk about a block down the street to the designated Landa Falls area for shuttle pick up. This was really clear for us and the 15 other people who were also from Landa falls, but once one of us saw the sign we directed everyone to the correct waiting area. You will cross the street from the take out area and stand along the street very near to Schlitterbahn east.
Overall great company and...
