I am a Fiddleheads New London Coop member and frequent shopper. I have a big family and am very health conscious. I love store and the variety but have had many bad experiences with a particular worker there. I am not the type to complain but today was embarrassing and I felt very uncomfortable shopping there. The cashier Kristin was particularly unprofessional and rude today. She made no eye contact when cashing me out, ignoring me like I wasn't there or a human being. She has done this on many occasions to me. But today when I mentioned that the incorrect price had scanned on the eggplant, she walked away from the register and hugged her coworker and they were talking about me, in front of me and other customers, like I did something wrong. Every one out of three times, items have scanned incorrectly. I am not blaming anyone but I am extra careful and vigilant about checking my receipt these days because it is difficult to drive back twenty minutes for a price adjustment. I thought leaving the register without a word and hugging her friend and acting as if I had wronged her by asking a question was uncalled for and also unprofessional. She left for a while and they both looked at me as if I did something wrong. I felt so bad, I asked her if she was okay when she finally came back to the register. But she again made no eye contact and ignored me. This one store worker always treats me badly when I shop. Is used to work at grocery stores and department stores when I was in college. I never treated customers so badly. I understand this is a coop and the same store rules don't apply but I do think people should be treated with common decency. It dosent matter if you didn't like the person you still treat them with kindness and courtesy. I was very embarrassed today and in many occasions when I had interactions with her. She made me feel horrible and uncomfortable. I liked fiddleheads because I am very health conscious and I go on a weekly basis but I'd rather find another health food store where I can be treated like a human being. I felt so bad and so uncomfortable, I don't want to go back to this store. I hope bring this to your attention makes a difference for someone else who shops...
Read moreUnfortunately, over time things have gotten worse. I was working with an assistant manager getting staples in for vegans, and I talked to him several times about how they seem to have less vegan products than more. And they don't keep anything if it doesn't sell right away. I understand supply and demand, but I know for instance follow your heart mozzarella is very popular among vegans, and the assistant manager would let us ornament getting a couple of time and pick me up but the man who spoke to today refused to do that unless we bought a case. So she's not working with us and we're not going there anymore. It's too bad. Whole Foods and Amazon will be delivering to our area soon, and unfortunately stores like Fiddleheads won't be able to compete
Fiddleheads has improved it's overall appearance and variety of products. I was almost able to get everything I needed without stopping at another store. I don't know how to work around that. They do carry the Certified Human Dairy products I use, and they have the largest variety. They also carry hard to find vegan cheese. When they have a sale on Gardenia plant based foods, I buy a ton. Keep up...
Read moreThis place is awesome! Organic everything! All of the healthy things you want to eat/find in a cool little market. There's all sorts of cool earth-saving stuff too! Dried beans, rices, flours, you name it, it's there in a hopper waiting for you to fill up your reusable mason jars! Grind your own nut butter station! Fresh roasted whole coffee bean station with select-your-own-grind coffee mill! An EPIC premade salad and meals section with some of the most delicious and good for you concoctions made fresh IN HOUSE. Biggest downer is the prices. A lot of the premade meals are actually pretty reasonable, but as most everything else is organic free range healthy goodness, it's hella expensive. They do offer discounts to members as it is a co-op and they have sales on specific items as well, but be prepared to drop a pretty penny! What would cost about $40 at a chain grocer can easily be 3 times as much at Fiddleheads. But you've gotta ask yourself.... Is it worth not having pesticides and GMO foods and God knows what else...
